:confused:Hi, I have been using Skype for some years and yesterday a friend told me about VoipStunt.
Any pros and cons would be very helpful.

Without knowing voipstunt, I would say the biggest con is that all my friends, family and business contacts have Skype and not voipstunt :)

Plus there is nothing wrong with Skype?

Skype seems to be dropping a lot of calls lately, but maybe its on the telkom side, dont know for sure.

I agree Skype is the standard VOIP program most people use so why change. Even if you change will all your friends etc.

dont blame skype for ur line quality boet. phone telkom and fix ur line i'd say

Skype has on avg 14.8 million online users, thats what puts it above voipstunt, the amount of bandwidth it needs for a decent voice or video call, puts it miles above voipstunt, the fact that even my grandma know what skype is, puts it leap years above voipstunt... so no, stick to skype :)

Skypes quality has definitely deteriorated since their volumes have increased, even so that they are asking for feedback to help sort it out.
Thats why I will stick with them, they will fix their problems.

Skype's quality is definitely superior to voipstunt. I have tried both. Skype wins hands down (and that's why they are more expensive when calling a normal phone)

I have been using VoipStunt from when they launched the service several years ago. If you need to make regular international telephone calls it is definitely worthwhile. You can apparently even pay for the service in South African Rands - See http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showpost.php?p=2485798&postcount=50

Take a look at www.backsla.sh/betamax to find the cheapest service for your requirements. Most of the Betamax services let you make several free international calls for testing purposes. You can try to make a free call from the homepage at www.voipraider.com etc.

VoipStunt

VoipStunt is one of many services offered by Betamax ,, and no it is not the video recorders :) .
I have setup 2 units for one of our Directors at home using Linksys SPA3102 routers.

We are using Voipcheap (www.voipcheap.com) on the one and I am busy activating a VoipRaider (www.voipraider.com) on the order. They are from exactly the same company but have diffrent rates. The VoipRaider is cheaper. Even calling a Telkom number only works out to about 8.8 c per min and to Cellphones at under R1 per minute. I know that the landline quality is verry good, even to Telkom and International it is as well, (haven't tested the Cell quality to SA as this is always the Achilles heel of Voip)

The nice thing about using the Linksys unit is that your p.c. doesnt have to be on as the unit has 1 FXO and 1 FXS port, and it provides a "passthru" for data. Meaning if your linksys is plugged into your dsl modem and your p.c. into it then it will prioritize the voice over any other traffic... thus avoiding those horrible breaks.

I hope this helps, it you need any help setting up the Linksys let me know.

Albert, haven't I seen those arguments in a discussion of Windows vs Mac.

I also have many more friends on Skype than any other service though I'm slowly changing them. IMHO the clarity, stability & latency of Betamax calls are much better than with skype.

All Betamax products (voipstunt, voipdiscount, voipraider, etc.) are the same quality, just different pricing structure.

If you want to use computer to computer (possibly with video), use Skype.

If you want to use computer to land line (or mobile) overseas, then use a Betamax product (I use internetcalls.com).

SkypeOUT is not an option for me due to the higher call cost and lower quality.
