Skype via cellular network on the iPhone

Glad to see they've activated skype via the cellular network but as usual there is a catch.

I haven't been following the new Skype version announcement (how rude for work to get in the way of my iPhone hobby); 3G data charges still apply - right? Pretty sure they do.

Yup, they do. And then from September Skype will charge.

The latest update I downloaded for Skype showed that it's free (other than data charges) until the end of the year

I updated mine on sunday and that was the splash screen I got yesterday when I fired it up for the first time.

Yip, now apparently free until the end of the year. Honestly, I won't mind paying a "small" fee every month - this is soooooooo convenient. Called my mom in Aus again this morning from my iPhone - this toooooootally rocks And the quality is brilliant!!

True, but not sure what the quality on Fring is like. If you have good 3G then the Skype app's quality is REALLY good
