skype video on 4mb line

Hi ppl

My 4mb line is running sweet again after many many phone calls to telkom. My qeustion is what is the experience of the board with skype video and adsl, internationl site. Im using afrihost on a semi shaped account but the speed and quality of the connection specificaly to Rome Italy where my sister lives is beyond poor but to the Uk its fine, what could be the problem, thanks

I get to Manila fine, a lot depends on the quality of the hardware being used as well. I have pretty clear calls to Manila. Which is a little absurd, because in the years I have being phoning Manila, I have never been able to send or recieve a single clear call on my cellphone... and this is at R10 a minute!!!! Apparently if I dont pay for the call and use Skype... I get better quality than the rip off premium call pricing.

Try speedtest.net and see if you can find a server in Rome, then try pingtest.net and do the same, should give you an indication of what to expect.
Post the results here and perhaps some people who are in the know can help you.
