right so last night I was playing and noticed this weird problem when I arrived in Whiterun

every 10 sec or so it looks like the textures are "scrolling". it does that for less than a second, then stops... 10 sec goes by and it happens again.

now I dont know if its the mods I activated with skyrimnexus mod manager. I disabled all the mods, and its still doing it.

tonight I will download the latest ati drivers, but it wasnt an issue before..

Does anyone even know what Im talking about :confused:

:(

Like Vsync tearing? Horizontal line running down like
797px-Tearing_%28simulated%29.jpg

Or more accelerated like

not that... That is more of a flickering.

If I look up at a roof/building/whatever and watch I can see lines scrolling accross the textures like a sea wave effect, except really fast. its not flickering

:(

Turn down your resolution and see if it helps.

No dude common.... lol :D

Just thinking because it's at such a steady rhythm, and Skyrim's shadows and textures do go for a ball of **** every now and again... Bet you if you position yourself so you can see that effect along with a building's shadow they'll happen in unison. :D

For a second there I was going "DAaaaam, what mods is he running?"

I was also like WTF game is this (never seem skyrim) and then thought I must get this and then again I thought my gfx card would never handle it :D

So, what was the problem and how did you sort it?

in a nutshell is all about the shadows and the sun (in the game ;)) Basically how it updates the shadows based on where the sun is. the problem is that the default way its done is retarded, and produces these minor flickers on the shadow area. I think most people might not even care about it, but Im anal when it comes to that kind of thing.

Even with all the game updates, texture mods and processing fixes... it still happens.

open your skyrim.ini in notepad \documents\games\skyrim

under the <video> section add the follwing

fSunShadowUpdateTime=25
fSunUpdateThreshold=1.5

problem solved, and all due credit to the oke in the post on previous page
