Skyrim

Double-Handed weapons
Heavy-Armor
Alchemy
Speech
Lockpicking

Those are things I have been doing mostly. Reasonable?

I thought of doing restoration instead of alchemy which would make me somewhat of a Paladin type, but I prefer alchemy as it is more fun :)

Now it is more like a Fighter-Druid I guess

I want to restart this game :(

Flip I am never happy with my choices in RPG this is always a problem.

You and me both, dude. :/ I keep trying out different things, but then wonder what I'm missing out on.

Nope, light or heavy, light is better for stealth classes...theres an awesome Light Armor perk that gives +50% stamina regen when wearing full light

I run with 2x Glass swords for when the skooma hits the windmill, I have 2x daggers enchanted with Soul Trap for stealth kills and a Glass Bow for ranged pewpew/openers

I run with Fast Healing (+50 healing), I only equip it (and dual wield) when in need of healing/running away/after combat. I've played around with some of the destruction magic, the fire is great against undead

Elemental Fury for melee combat when not in stealth, Throw Voice for distracting enemies when stealthed, Ice form for CC. I use Aura Whisper the most when creeping around. If you're still squishy, the Disarm shout is great against those 2h mofos that decapitate you

Stamina is what your power attacks (main dagger kills) require, at your level I could get 1 maybe 2 attacks off, now I can get 8-11...I have 240 stamina though. Health is probably the best stat because once you get strong enough (stealth 15x damage perk), you'll need the health for when you get spotted

If you put points into Archery at all, theres a steady aim perk that drains stamina A LOT

In fear of making your character hopelessly OP and boring, I'd suggest not power leveling these 3 professions - enchanting makes your enchanted weapons/armor stronger...alchemy makes your potions/poisons stronger...smithing makes the best armor and weapons

The synergy with these 3 skills can reach game breaking levels

I haven't found the lockpicking perks worth while in my opinion... at 98 lockpicking, master locks open with ease (without any perks in the tree)

Thanks buddy, I'll give that a definite go!

Started fighting Ancient dragons last night (still haven't gotten further in the main story since getting Whirlwind Sprint), they make Elder dragons look like rabbits :erm:

So far in terms of difficulty:

Dragon
Blood Dragon
Frost Dragon
Elder Dragon
Ancient Dragon

Bears are stronger than Ancient Dragons :p.

OK, so I will admit, that I thought I wasn't going to enjoy this game. Only other RPGs I got into was Diablo 2 and Fallout 3 (When it wanted to work) So, instead of buying a game, and playing it for an hour and getting over it, I looked for a cracked copy, just to give it a try. Thinking I will be deleting it an hour later.

How wrong was I! Really really enjoying it! Gone for a slightly different build. Lvl 11 Nord Warrior, using two handed sword and bow. Working on my smithing skill atm. Only magic doing for now is enchanting weapons. My sneaking seems to be doing pretty well so far, and haven't even tried getting that up.

So I will admit that Skyrim showed me an "up yours, I'm awesome" and I will be buying it come payday.

Question tho. Been reading about mods. Do they do any damage to the gameplay? They sound all nice in theory, but don't want the gameplay to slow down. My settings are on high, not ultra as it is.

Regarding the mods, some of them ruin the game, some of them make it better, MUCH better. There are mods out there that actually improve performance. You just need to look at what each does and also read comments about the mods.

The night sky mod and water mod seem to be pretty good. And also saw one of the faces mods is pretty decent.

Are these going to be a problem later on when the game patches itself?

Also saw in another forum there a mod for inventory? Any idea what that is about?

I have the night sky mod

and these;

Immersive Environment

Immersive Water

edit; and Psyrim

The biggest gripe most players have is that there is so much wasted space in the inventory screens, the mods display more information and neaten up the display

Question for the assassins:

Gear: Ok I know light armor is a must. I'm assuming light armor as a set, no other types in between.

Weapons: Which is primary/Secondary? Ranged/Melee? For Melee, do you use daggers exclusively or dagger/sword combo? I'm running with a fine iron and fine steel dagger atm, with points shared between 1hand combat and archery.

Spells: Do you make use of them? Healing? And do you only equip them when the need arises? Or do you roll with one equipped?

Shouts: Any advice?

Magicka/Health/Stam: So far I've upgraded 3lvls of Health. Should I focus on others?

I'm still a lvl4 woodelf and very soft indeed. I can't put a dent in the whiterun town guards.

What should I focus on as professions/skills? I'm lockpicking everything I find (successfully so far), but I'm wondering what I should put points into?

To expand a little on Oculate, as a woodelf, you're naturally a better archer. As such I would recommened going with light armour only as it improves sneak (more so early on - some nice perks up the sneak tree).

As said archer, sneaking and being able to remain hidden even when enemies are looking for you, means a lot more double (leads on to triple) damage shots.

When things do get a little hairy, it ultimately depends on how quickly you want to lash out. Dual wielding is great, but you can't block. Using a shield should increase survivability as it increases armour rating as well as allowing you to block. Two handed weapons swing slowly but do more damage and also allow you to block. Personally I'm playing a sneaky Nord (all light armour) with a bow/two handed sword combo.

If you plan on using your bow a lot, complete the quests up until you are taught the level 3 Unrelenting Force. You will literally blow people away.... should give you a lot more 'free' shots. Otherwise Ice form's freezing ability is great, but you break the freeze as soon as you attack the frozen opponent.

Unless you want to use magic, don't bother with magicka. Buff your health and stamina. Aside from allowing you to do more power attacks/aim for longer with bow, stamina increases your carrying weight.

I haven't put a point into anything outside of the 'combat' skills I use. Mostly in two-handed (cutting off peoples heads is fun :) ), archery and sneak.

Thing is, don't let others influence how you build your character. Half the fun is making the guy/gal you Want to play with.

Wow, Immersive Water screenshots are really impressive. Not sure if I prefer Immersive Environment or normal tho.

Last night I was running around, on way to the greybeards, and out of no where, and rabbit hopped out of a bush and made me crap myself! Ha ha. You can only imagine what happened when I ran into my first frost troll...

What I'm planning on doing in convert my chair into a toilet. That way there no clean up, and no reason to leave the game. . .

THIS!!!

It irritates me when people ask "Whats the best build" or "What skills should i take" , its a bloody open RPG do what EVER you want!

While I do agree there is no best build, it's nice to know that archery works well with sneak, block with heavy armor

I've seen a friend running around in their loin cloth (+mage armor spell) and daedric gloves with the Fists of Steel perk beating everything senseless :p

I don't like the idea of going through a best build guide. Takes joy away from the game. But, a guide for a new player (like myself) does help a lot. Just to give you idea what goes with what. From there, it up to you to decide on your playing style.

I finally gave in and bought Skryim for PC this afternoon :D

Excited to give it a spin! I have no idea what class or anything I will choose. That is always an agonizing decision...
