Skyrim

They are all copied to the relevant data folder, but they dont appear on the Data list for activation in the startup menu. Should they?

Because the Creation Kit has not yet been released, all current available mods are not "official" and thus will not appear as Oblivion mods did in the Data folder on the Skyrim Startup screen

- My 1 handed is coming up, but doesn't seem to be very beneficial for daggers

The + damge perk (first skill in one handed) affects daggers, as do most of the perks that affect power attacks...its only the perks that say swords/axes/maces don't affect daggers

What is quite cool that I've found is that as a low level lockpicker, you can still pick the top locks. I was lvl30 or so and managed to pick 4 expert locks and 2 master locks. I went through copious amounts of lockpicks, but the loot was worth it. I got myself an elven bow, elven blade and "elven boots of sneakiness". :D

Awesome! I found my first daedric weapon last night, shiny unenchanted bow :D Slapped a soul trap enchant on it and loving the instant soul captures when I 1-shot mobs

Now a question regarding groups you join...I'm not a brawler or anything and I've only made it to as Whiterun as far as cities/outposts go, so naturally I signed up with the Companion. I've done a few quests with them and I'd like to know whether it will still be possible for me to join the assassin guild/dark brotherhood later on. The companion okes keep moaning about thieves etc. being lame.

You can join all factions (the only factions that require a choice are the Imperials or Stormcloaks), I completed the companions on my sneaky archer last night.

Hell I even joined the mages college for lols, I intend on finishing the thieves guild first before helping those milk drinking mages

Lastly...as far as skills go, is it worthwhile to buy skill points from trainers? I try to limit this to my main skills only because making money seems to be a bit of an issue for me. I average around 3k gold before a trainer sinks it down to 800 or so after 5 lvls.

As mentioned by other forumites, save them until leveling takes ages (around 40 or so)... money is better spent on upgrades/potions/ingredients/housing at your level

I'm nearly 49 and I need roughly 30 skill ups to progress further...I have no idea how i'm going to reach level 81

@the forumites in this thread,

I'm still finding the difficulty pretty tough on adept... I can 1-shot some mobs, but the heavily armored guys and mages still take 3-5 arrows/ a couple 15x sneak attacks or a power attack from my 2x glass swords...on the other side I can still get 2 shot by certain enemies if i'm not careful

Encountered my first dragon gank team last night... Elder Dragon kept setting me on fire while a Frost dragon refusing to land kept my stamina empty :o What a hectic 10min encounter :D

Word of advice when being ambushed by dragons, find LOS cover! Being out in the open south of Windhelm wasn't a good idea :( But the Ethereal shout works very well for avoiding damage for a couple seconds

Last night I used the bow and arrow for the first time... in an old cave whilst in sneak mode...and hidden from view. The bandit was very far away and never saw it coming. Instant kill! Wow. I was impressed. Normally i'm into the whole mace and shield style of play, but now I want to start playing around with some archery as well...
Addictive game... just a pitty it freezes and dies a lot (only outside areas) on my old PC.

On the dragons? How can you tell what is what? Is it just by the look of them? Or does the name change next to their health bar?

Reason I ask is cause my first couple dragon kills were pretty easy, and they were labelled "dragon" last night one rocked up, and ripped me a new one. But it was also just labelled "dragon"

Yeah you can classify Dragons by their names, also their colors...

Pretty nice images of the various dragons

So under the name, it will actually say "Blood Dragon" or "Black Dragon"?

Yep, I've encountered dragons, frost dragons and blood dragons. Think the plain dragon can only breath fire, frost dragons breath frost and the blood dragon can breath both fire and frost.

I installed the 4gb workaround last night, since then no CTD :) very happy about that. It would seem then, that the problem is Steam.

(Big surprise) :D

As far as trainers go, its really up to you. I train destruction and I quest to get the cash to do so. Its an awesome motivation. I'm an Eve lemming, I have to have a goal to strive towards :)

Good to hear.

Is there any improvement in performance?

As far as I know theres only 1 ring due to possible exploits with stacking bonuses...

Imagine 2x 100% magicka regen rings :erm:
But whats to stop from having say a ring and a necklace that both have magika regen +100??

They should just program it to have a limit on the stacking. Ie. 100%.

Hmmmm...

I seem to have a broken quest. Find Red Eagles Sword.

I got the sword (Now called Red Eagles Bane I think) and I killed that guy on the throne after placing the sword in the thing that opens the door. The quest arrow keeps pointing me in the direction of the first cave entrance and then disappearing. No difference if I keep the sword or leave it there. No idea where to go to complete the quest.

EDIT: No wait problem solved. After placing it back in that thing that opens the secret entrance the quest went away :) I wonder if it is because I read the book again that re-activated the quest

Yes. Same thing happened to me when reading the book again. I just ignored it and kept the sword to mount in my house.

My thief/assassin is lvl 25 now and I pretty much only use my bow. Very few enemies don't die on the 1st shot (x3 damage multiplier when shooting from stealth) and mammoths now die in 3 shots. My dagger combat still sucks though, if I'm out in the open vs someone I get owned badly, but they work well for stealth attacks (sneak up behind someone and slit their throat - cool animation!) and they have a x15 damage multiplier in stealth.

Later on you'll get a bow skill that allows you to zoom in and while you're zooming (chows stamina though) it slows time for 25/50% ... which makes for some EPIC volley shots when you can time it so the person strafing runs into your arrow. :D

On my next play through I want to try a paladin role, wearing heavy armor with a big weapon and some spells.

Best thing to do is gather all the hide/leather/strips you can find and power level smithing by crafting hide bracers like a puppy mill. It also adds to your progression leveling xp. I made myself a set of glass light armor now and it looks quite sick. Just really wish my melee combat was worth writing home about. :(

I found the best way to do it is : Buy iron ignots in whiterun from the blacksmith lady, the guy in the shop and the guy at the skyforge. Craft iron daggers till your eyes bleed. goto enchanter - enchant. Sell daggers. Rest 3 days. Rinse and repeat. Blacksmithin on 99 now, enchanting on 77. It's quite kief, cause enchanted daggers sell for quite a bit so you make a return.
