Skyrim

I have been following this thread from the start and thought I would add my 2c.
I am rolling with a Nord, Heavy Armour, Smithing, 2 handed weapons, restoration. I just hit level 25/26 and completed my full set of daedric armor. Super stoked. About to craft my daedric warhammer with my last daedric heart. Then I'm going to continue my Main quest and Legion's quests.
Loving the game and looking forward to starting a new character. Perhaps I will become a archer/ battle mage.

That makes no sense. You saying if someone has 2x2GB gfx cards, then the game is going run everything in gfx memory?? :P

Nope thats not what i am saying. I am saying a game that has a 2Gb memory limit will use say 1.2Gb of memory and the other 800Mb will be in the video memory :).

And judging by the res and gfx settings you are using then the game is making more use of the video memory in your PC which results in less texture swapping. Which is why your normal memory usage is not going up.

Run Everest or something and check it out :).

My concern with a 2 handed warrior in heavy armour is that he'll be too slow to close enemies and whack them. I'm seriously considering this build for my reboot.

Well I wanted to choose a 2handed weapon (Greatsword/Battleaxe/warhammer) and stick to it (to get the most of the perks for the specific weapon). As far as i understand the Greatsword swings the fastest but does the least damage, battleaxe is slower with more damage and warhammer the slowest with most damage. So far I am loving just running and killing anything in my path. I was suprised to have killed a Giant without a problem at all. Didnt even need to heal. I feel like a tank. My armour rating is 557 IIRC.

THe only thing I need to work on is enchanting. My enchanting level is quite low. I have read that you can increase your two handed by enchanting your armor or something. I still want to explore that route. If you can help explain how to increase my 2handed damage by enchanting armor I would really appreciate it.

You'll need a magic item that boosts 2 handed attribute, a soul gem (the bigger the better) and an arcane enchanter. You disenchant the magic item to 'learn' the enchantment, then select the armour you want to enchant, the soul gem and the enchantment, and craft.

Obviously the higher your level of enchanting the more beneficial your crafting will be.

I'm still fairly low level (15 or 16 I think) and this hasn't been a problem for me. I haven't worked on any magic (but have gotten my enchanting skill up) and been pumping into health and stamina. With the high stamina you can chase down most things that are running away from you.

I've also got my Archery up to a decent level, which does help a lot. I tend to find one hit with that, and the target comes running back to you.

Hope this help a bit?

Thanks EnchanterG (what a fitting name to advise me on Enchanting :))
Now all I need to find is some magic items that boosts the 2 handed attribute. :) Okay that makes perfect sense. THat will be my mission when I get home. Well I wll have to increase my enchanting level cos its not even 20.

It helps, a lot! The build I'm looking at so far is tanking, with all my items being magic, including a very high bow to boot. Only two handed weapon I'm using right now is battle axe. I figure if I don't use perks on the other, ummm, perks :P They can be used to up my enchanting skill. . .

So many different options!

gonna roll another character when I can play again.

im not happy with my character at all. the battlemage option 1H + destruction doesnt really do it for me

either gonna go 2h or rogue with daggers :D

So I end up in Riften I think it was. To get a gem I found valued. Suddenly I find myself smack in the middle of a thieves guild agenda.

I did not want this as aside from the fact I regularly use lockpicks (but no perks in lockpicking) my skills have nothing to do with them. I am pretty much a Fighter-Druid kind of character. And I joined up with the Companions. I don't use a bow, light armor, pickpocket, sneak, one-handed etc...

Is it wise to get tangled up in these branch quests? Do you have to spread your skills for these? I have come to terms now plodding around with a warhammer and am quite happy. But I don't want to be missing out on anything important either :/

You can level all skills to 100 to get the max level of 81... it's advised to only put perks into the skills to suit your playstyle

I'm the thief archtype, my magic skills are on between 40 and 65 and I haven't spend 1 perk in them

I thought I'd play an archtype for each faction, but ended up loving my character so much that I'm going to complete all the factions on this character

It doesn't hurt i suppose, I also signed up with the mages guild for the lulz even though I only use regen health as a spell once every 5 hrs.

I'm in the companions, but i'm a thief and I am planning on joining the assassins and thief guild even though it's direct conflicts of interests. Kinda like having a skelm gf in every city, it's all good and well as long as they don't find out about each other. :D

Daggers are kak. My rogue is a pro archer, even use it for close quarters. 1 shotting pretty much everything from afar. Mammoths and frost trolls die in 2-3 shots as well. I'm lvl 26 now.

I see, thanks :) I guess I can regard the others as minor skills but not totally ignore them.

Signing up with the thieves guild (or even the dark brotherhood) gives you some nice light armor which you can smith further to get to an armor bonus of about 400. Leveling lock picking is really great at the thieves guild as they have a training room with all chests of different difficulty. Sofar (currently level 46) I skilled up to 100 in lock picking, smithing and two-handed. Other skills sit around 60-80 (archery, light-armor, enchanting). Smithing aside (where I forged lots of iron daggers), all the other skills leveling happens as part of the play through though...

I started the Thieves Guild quests last night... just want to say EPIC!

I did the first few missions with next to no violence, looking forward to moving onto the harder AC type assassinations

So last night, just for the fun of it, I stop by that wizard college, just to go see if it would be worth checking out on my next play through.

I got so bored! I'm now at part where you need to get 3 stolen books or something. Couldn't be bothered. Knocking off all my little side quests for a bit.

Battling to get my blocking up. Can that only go up using a shield, and not two handed weapons block?

Also got attacked by a dragon at night. Was a pretty awesome sight seeing it fly overhead against that awesome night sky.

Also just made a 2-hander Orc after going the stealth and bow route before. That one shout that boosts you forward is awsome for closing the gap when attacking mages which can 2 shot me if i don't take them down fast. Also once you get the conditioning heavey armour perk you ignore the weight of your armour and it doesn't slow you down.

Dragon fights can be a bitch though, don't have any range attacks. Trying to decide if should carry a staff or bow for them. Or just use shouts.

Oh yeah, and love the orc berserker racial, I try save it as my trump card only popping it in when i'm heavily outnumbered and looking like I'm going down. Always brings an evil grin to my face.

Oculate, this is so irritating:

I found a sceptre in a cave last night that has a soul steal enchant on it, but it won't let me disenchant the damn thing. So I still have to whip it out mid fight it seems. :/

Also, it seems the dude inside the warmaiden shop in Whiterun sells a bow with the soul steal enchant on it, but for 2200g. Problem is, I already enchanted my flawless glass bow with a health steal enchant...and it doesn't seem possible to re-enchant an item once it's been enchanted.

Should I make a new bow? I'm guessing weapon enchants have charges and gear enchants don't...is that right?

If you block with 2 handed weapons your block will increase. I am certain this is how my block increased. I did not want to increase block so now I dont block with 2 handed weapons.
