Skyrim

I picked up the game last night, installed it, patched it and I am hooked!

My first question is how do I run the game without having to log onto steam?

Finally got this damned vampirism cured!
Some barmaid told me about this dude that researches vampires, so off I missioned to see him and he told me to go put a soul into a black crystal thingy and then he did some magics and cured me. phew... from now on I'll be running around with some cure disease potions.

Just start Steam in offline mode. I've played Skyrim a few times while my inet was messed up and I could not login to Steam.

Hi everyone...... my name is Fred and I have a confession to make:

I tried Skyrim at my friend's house last night and....well.....I wasn't blown away. :-(

I found the controls awkward, it was difficult to see where I was going some of the time, the HDR was overdone, I found the first person perspective awkward for an RPG, the textures looked a little grubby and....worst of all, it just wasn;t much fun. :-(

WTH plays skyrim in FPS view?

Me. All I could see were my hands.

I prefer the overhied view one gets in games such as Baldur's Gate, Planescape, etc.

Well.....at least I didn't buy this game.

You know that you can select to play it in overhead, over the shoulder or 1st person but then again, to each there own.

I play 1st person for mages and rangers, 3rd person for thieves and warriors. It helps in the immersion if I can actually choose and being forced into either of the other would dampen the effect for me.

I do, at least when I'm fighting. When I just travel around, I usually switch to 3rd person.

Skyrim doesn't have any overhead view, only 1st and 3rd person views.

I also always play in FPS mode. It just feels right, most likely because my first Elder Scrolls game was Daggerfall. Only time I ever go into 3rd person is when I'm travelling somewhere and want to watch myself jump around like a spastic.

Ok, maybe I worded it wrong, better to place the different views in a picture:

1st Person, from behind, and waaaay far behind him ;)

Also you can have over the shoulder but that I guess is for mages and arches as it goes behind him when I pull out my blades. As for who play's in first person, I guess for mages and archers it makes sense as it then feels like a 1st person shooter, I prefer to see the moves my toon does when fighting.

I'm getting over skyrim now. :/

The bugs are getting a little silly now as far as questing is concerned, so I'm pretty much screwed for end-game stuff.

What bugs, you referring to clearing a dungeon before getting the quest to do so?

Nah main storyline ones.

Highlight here for spoilers:

<***Spoiler Alert***>

The stormcloak invasion quest bugs out on the last outpost before the attack on Solitude, so I manually had to find the quest giver (who was also bugged) and continue from there, my quest list requiring me to overthrow the outpost only updated itself after I completed the Solitude run.

When you have to capture a dragon in Dragonsreach, my game also bugs out and no matter what I do it won't allow me to ready the troops or summon the dragon.

The quest where you have to kill the greybeard leader dragon is also bugged and the dialogue is stuck on me saying the blades want him dead.

Dam, I see what you mean, have you checked the wiki's for console fixes?

Won't help, I'm on xbox. :| I'll wait for a patch to roll out or something. I have a ton of reading to catch up on anyway.

Loving this game. Level 44 warrior. Nothing can stop me. I just finished the main quest last night. Now I want to get to own more houses. Do side quests. Take over every inch of skyrim pretty much.
