Skyrim

How does Skyrim compare to morrowind? Not interms of graphics but scale, feel, possibilities, leveling and loot?

which did you enjoy the most Morrowind, Oblivion or Skyrim?

That's weird - bought it two weeks ago and did a standard install - steam installs, then Skyrim (off the DVD) and afterwards Steam did a download of I think about 200MB (but certainly not the whole game).

Same for me. It installed fine from the DVD, did a download and within a few hours my addiction began :D

I played Oblivion and was stopped halfway because of boredom/irriation. So far I've loved every hour of Skyrim and can't wait to finish the main quest so that I can start a new char
:D

For some reason I did not find a liking in Oblivion, preferred Morrowind, as it was a bigger game and way more challenging. I think Oblivion was too dumbed down for my liking. Even with Skyrim being closer to Morrowinds character customization and the combat manics that are better I still prefer Morrowind. The Oblivion setting was the best but Skyrim's FX kills the other 2.

If I could have my perfect game it would be Morrowind's game + scale with Skyrim's FX and combat engine in a Oblivian world

My order of pref 1st Morrowind, then Skyrim and last Oblivion.

It might sound crazy but I just loved travelling so far in Morrowind. Walking forever and a day with random encounters along the way was really good fun. And you could take a ride on a Silt Strider if you needed to. Man I think I might give morrowind a crack again on virtual machine/Xp mode

Anyone played morrowind and Skyrim?

Played Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim.

Order of Preference: Morrowind, Skyrim, Daggerfall and then Oblivion.

Its very very close between Morrowind and Skyrim though and as soon as the construction kit is released I think Skyrim will pip Morrowind for the top spot.

oh wow daggerfall = old school

Almost like realms of arkania!! Man those were the days

There's a big difference between Morrowind and Oblivion, which makes playing Morrowind difficult if you have played Oblivion first. Spells can fail and attacks miss if you're not trained in them.

There is no fast travel system like Oblivion, but there are a variety of fast-travel methods depending on where you're going. Silt-striders between inland cities and boats for coastal cities. Teleportation between Mage Guild branches, Mark and Recall. There are also two Intervention spells which teleports you to the closest Tribunal Temple or Imperial Cult.

There are more factions in Morrowind. Fighters, Mage and Thieves guild like in Oblivion, and Morag Tong which is similar to Dark Brotherhood. There are also three Dunmer houses you can join, Imperial Cult, Imperial Legion and East Empire Company. Vampires also have 3 factions, but you can only join the one that infected you and there isn't any faction progression.

Leveling up is similar to Oblivion, but there are more skills. I also think you didn't have a limit on trained skills per level, but I could be wrong.

Overall, the game is a lot more complex than Oblivion. Whether that makes it a better or worse game is up to the player.

RoA III: Shadows over Riva was were my adiction started with Role playing games.

This sounds awesome!

Yeah, apparently it is being release in January. Then you will see the community take over the game and mod it too its full potential. Most mods now are just graphics updates.

Once players can start changing the actual mechanics of the game then it gets interesting!

Thats the word "complexity" - I love the complexity of morrowind! THe recall and mages guild teleport was awesome as well.

It kinda spoilt oblivion for me in a huge way. I forced myself to play oblivion - with morrowind it was difficlut to keep track of the time...

I think that's why I loved being a Vampire, in Morrowind being a vampire meant something, not like Skyrim where its just seen as a curse.

I mean for one just see the pro's

Morrowind:
  • +20 to Strength, Willpower, and Speed.
  • +30 to Sneak, Athletics, Acrobatics, Hand-to-hand, Unarmored, Mysticism, Illusion, and Destruction.
  • Immune to Paralysis and Common Disease.
  • +50% Resistance to normal weapons.
  • Vampire Touch spell, which Absorbs Health 10-30 points on touch. It will always have a 100% success rate.
  • Berne Clan: +20 to Agility, additional +20 to Sneak, Unarmored, and Hand-to-hand.
  • Aundae Clan: additional +20 to Willpower, +20 to Short Blade, Mysticism, and Destruction.
  • Quarra Clan: additional +20 to Strength, +20 Blunt Weapon, Hand-to-hand, and Heavy Armor.
  • You take 5pts sun damage when outside in the day, negated by restore health gear.

Skyrim
  • Increases the potency of your illusion spells by 25%
  • Reanimate a dead body for 60 seconds (Based on level)
  • Immune to Disease.
  • Drains X health per second. Costs Y magicka per second (Based on level)
  • Calm creatures and people up to level 10 for 30 seconds
  • Invisible with improved night vision for 180 seconds once per day (Stage 4 only)
  • You have up to 100% resistance to frost, and up to 100% weakness to fire, in a land filled with fire breathing dragons
  • While outside during daylight, health, magicka and stamina have an automatic up to -60 to their total

Not to mention the unique gear that you could only get as a vampire in Morrowind, Like Eltonbrand that was the ultimate sword in my view. Morrowind it was also a pain getting the right infection, and you could only get it in melee combat or while looting a corpse.

I actually forgot about the travel methods in Morrowind. That mark and recall spell would have been brilliant here in Skyrim.

This is crazy - going to duck home during lunch to check the game for my self!!!!!!!!!

It should look ok with my 5870, I hope XD

Thats when your troubles gonna start, You not gonna be able to leave it after that.

playing as a hunter,i found deathbell+riverbetty to be a deadly combination for poison when hunting deer/elk.also found out that mudcrab claw+charred skeever hide=potion of cure disease.

too messy,i find some that i need here:http://skyrim.warlore.org/

Look again, its actual potions, like use 3 ingredients and create one that for example If you add (Fire Salts) + (Garlic) + (Luna Moth Wing) you get Regen mana and HP regen in one potion.

Best it to actually import that txt into Excell and use datasort to see what effects you want in one potion and use that combo's

The one you link only show you the 4 values each item can have, not actual potions, with the money values of each.

Edit: my other favs are
Sneak + invis rolled into one potion or
one handed + fort heavy armor

Well aslong as the effect of 2 ingredients are the same then you get the same effect.Example would be that both deathbell and riverbetty has damage health and slow so both are going to be in the poison.i like it better just knowing the 4 effects.
