The Mi Box and the Binge TV use the same SoC.
The Android Pie update should resolve the Google assistant issue, we have investigated it, and we understand the root cause, but there is no easy way to fix it without a full update.
HDMI CEC gets implemented differently by a number of platforms and devices, it's difficult to test against all of them, and interoperability cannot always be ensured. Sometimes it's a case of choosing which device to support. We will look at this and see if there is a way to improve it in the upcoming update.
For TV support you will need to get hold of our TV division, you at https://www.skyworth.co.za/contact-us/
We queried it, but the feedback from Amlogic was it is not possible. We're looking into it.There are tons of examples of firmware that has working adaptive refresh rates.
Mi Box for one, then a lot of custom firmware from the guys at Freaktab.
PoisonATV Firmware
ATVxperience firmware
They all got it working for the Amlogic S905x SoC
Please investigate
I can't give a date on the update yet - we're testing early builds right now, but once we have the system stable and as bug free as possible, Google certification will likely take a month or more. Thanks, any idea when the update is expected to be available?
Also, you didn't answer my question regarding the remote and controller![]()

Apologies, I was trying to query that internally. The TV division is separate, but I am not aware of them selling remotes separate to the TVs. Our remote is still in the process of being listed, but any standard type Bluetooth gamepad should in theory work with both box and TV, although it's tricky to test them all.
Plans are delayed. Unfortunately we had some unforeseen issues getting everything together.I recall you mentioning that you would be listing the Binge Box remote for sale separately on Takealot? Have those plans changed?
There should be two USB ports on the side of the unit. Please confirm - it should not be possible to get a unit without USB ports. To Skyworth Support:
Received the HPA02 STB from Takealot today. The device is stuck at "Checking for updates".
Tried the following:
- Changed language
- Rebooted
- Wired connection and also unplugged
- Read your link: http://myskyworth.com/support/
We are aware of a bug that sometimes leaves the box stuck on “Updating Software”.
Please note that this is a Google issue and the workaround is as follows:
Only problem, there's no USB port on this model.
- Unplug the box (power off).
- Click to Download the attached file update
- Place the extracted folder from the attached file onto a memory stick, including the file inside (so path is \skyworth\autotest_command). Please use a FAT or FAT32 formatted memory stick).
- Attach the memory stick to the port nearest the power chord ( the one on the corner).
Do I send the device back to Takealot as faulty?
Braaivibes, what about netflix? did you get the tv app working, or is it the old android apk.
Hey, it's an older tablet version, so have to use wireless mouse / presenter to navigate - the remote doesn't register where you are in the menu

@BraaiVibes Can you post link please![]()
That should not be happening, it's quite odd. Are you using the soft power on/off or the passive standby feature? Passive standby is one press of the power button, soft power is a long press that brings up a menu.@Skyworth Digital Support not sure if anyone has similar issues, I tried searching....
After much pain I got all the streaming services working on Skyworth, including Netflix and Amazon Video.
But a new problem I'm now facing is the soft off/on, when I turn the Box back on using controller, the TV lights up a weird shade of grey and I can hear the menu button sounds when navigating around...but no visuals. If I press the Home button TV then turns a weird shade of red! The only way to fix is to unplug from mains whenever I'm done watching, so when I turn back on it boots from scratch.
Any ideas?
Some additional info, I turned the CEC auto off, as my language was defaulting to Korean or something.

Unless we can reproduce the issue, we won't be able to track it down. If you are very technical and are willing to try catch a log for us, please drop us a mail on [email protected]

It's not ideal, though as it takes longer to start up. Hopefully the new software will fix it, but we don't really know why you had that glitch, so it's hard to be sure.Hi again
I tried the "long press" power button to view additional power off options, and I use actual Power Off option.
When I turn back on I no longer get the screen glitch!
Thank you!
