Hi
I recently bought a second hand rig and im having problems when running sli.
games run fine normally but when i enable sli it freezes. Here are the specs of the machine:
Asus P5n-e Sli Nforce 650i
2 Asus 8800gt 512 Gfx Cards
Q6600 Processor
4GB RAM
Themaltake 700w psu
Im pretty sure the guy i bought it from didnt have this problem and i formatted the machine in reinstalled everything so theres a good chance i did something wrong.
Please help me with troubleshooting this problem.
Im a noob so go easy on me.
Also can anyone advise me on what the lowest spec single card is that will outrun these 8800GT's in sli.
Thanks

Hi Sharkbait
Thanks for the reply
I am running Xp pro sp3
I do have the latest drivers installed.

Hi signeffex

I had the exact same motherboard before I moved to the one I have now. I found it to be quite unstable to be honest, that is why I got rid of it... One I have now is much more stable and havent had problems to date (touch wood)

One thing though... what BIOS version are you running? The board out-of-the-box was a complete nightmare, but when I flashed it with the latest BIOS there was a definite improvement... I could play games for a couple of hours, sometimes a whole night, no problem.

Let me now, ok?

cheers

Hi HTC
Ill let you know on that version in a while.
Thanks
i suspect it could also be something else becoause i dont think the previous owner had this problem.

Well its worth a try hey... Latest BIOS is 1301 with the following description, looks promising..

Description P5N-E SLI BIOS 1301.
Enhance compatibility with certain VGA cards at SLI mode.

:D:D

please tell me step by step.
Thanks for the help

Hi HTC
Ive managed to flash the bios and i removed and re-installed all the nforce drivers and the nvidia drivers. well it seems to be working though i havent yet exerted the cards. but its no longer freezing after just 30 seconds in GRID.
Thank you you have been a great help.
