I thought it be best to post in this section although my question is software related.

What do you guys use to create stand alone slideshows for viewing on a full HD TV.

(Assuming you have access to a PS3 or set top Blu-Ray player / Media Player)

Would this be once off? ie burn to Blueray and use again and again?

I am looking for a neat way of packaging a slideshow of our Christmas party for all who attended.

Normally I use MemoriesonTV to create a photo slideshow with music in the background. But since almost everyone has a HD TV now, I wanted to "amp up" the slideshow to render it to look the best on the full HD screens.

I googled and Sony Vegas seems to fit the bill nicely ... but it is expensive.

You might want to browse through some NZB sites to get an idea of the applications that are available (for purchase or otherwise). If you go to nzbmatrix.com and do a search for "slideshow" etc under the Apps/PC section, you should be able to get an idea.

A but of a resurrection but I've just finished making my first wedding shoot slideshow with Aperture 3 and wow does it make me look good :D

Has anyone else used if and if so how does it compare to other software?

Aperture is for Mac, right? Pity. Would like to try it. There are some other applications, PhotoDex comes to mind. I guess they all are relatively good and it just comes down to personal preference and convenience at the end of the day.

Yeah, Mac only but still a damn fine excuse to switch. :D

@bwana and others

I found the easiest software to render full HD photo movies ... called muvee ... it really is easy to use and the results are awesome.... software is not too expensive too.

I love the kinetic theme ...I render the project as full HD wmv and stream it to my 42" LCD via my Mede8er ....

Let me tell you the full HD results are spectacular.
