Problem is most parents don't enforce the punishment, they're too soft. From what I've seen it's a case of "YOU'RE GROUNDED FOR A MONTH" turning into just a day or two

Check the highlighted parts. These kids are more uncertain than ever before, because they do not know with certainty that if they do wrong, the consequence wil be Y (as you said, it ended up being a 'lesser' punishment). The parents do not follow through.
 
lol Slipknot is lame.... gimme some proper metal. Lamb of God, Amon Amarth, Children of Bodom etc. >>> Slipknot.

Parents are responsible for bring up their children correctly but instead of saying that due to a lack of parenting skills (or close monitoring by the teachers) they say that the music is to blame.

WALOR, is it the government or is it the media thats drawing all the unfounded links between the killing and slipknot? This is just another case of people pointing fingers to impress others and sell newspapers.

And who says the parents should be blamed for this? Maybe they didn't do their job well, we don't know that but kids still get up to bad stuff despite good parenting, are we to blame your parents for your speculative allegations?

I think SA missed the plot somehow.... Yes i do know that there were teachers that went too far and beat children because they were sad people that were not suppose to be teachers but rather that addressing that problem they gave puberty the upper hand. I for one turned out to be a rather normal person and my but was blue rather often. They just started to take corporal punishment away when i was in grd 12. And let me tell you i knew back then if this was brought in earlier in my school career i would have been a terror. I already did as much as possible not to conform and break the rules. I mean if i knew nobody can punish me i would have been king of that castle....... I already was the one that arranged strikes decided PT was a waste of time, took on al the rules about how my uniform was suppose to look and the small stuff.
But knowing that nobody can make my butt burn and make my ego deflate a bit i would have had those teachers running in circles.
 
I really like their new album. I got it as soon as it was released. There's quite a bit of variety in there and REALLY shows how good a singer this guy is.
 
I got my fair share of hidings when I was young both at home and school(unfortunately for me my mother was also my teacher at some point) and whilst I turned out well I would still have turned out well without such hidings.

I think a lot of parents miss the point when it comes to disciplining children. It's not that corporal punishment works best its just that its easier to implement, but it has its cons as blunomore said.

IMO its all about making sure your kids realises the consequences of their actions, teaching them well, punishing them fairly and consistently and getting them to realise the importance of being good children.

Put them in charge of their own lives and reward them for good behaviour and take away some privileges for bad behaviour. But always make sure they know why you do what you do, they'll learn quicker if they understand why they should or shouldn't do some things. Dr. Phil step aside ;)
 
i think you'd only listen to slipknot to be different and like im not like everyone else.

its not music, all it is, is put distortion up, bang around and scream horse random words... you wonder why so many of these bands pop up.. its easy music :P
 
Guys again im not the biggest fan, but go look for songs like vermillion part 2 its full acoustic and no screaming and is an awsum song or go look for stone sour - through glass, its corey taylor's (lead singer of slipknot)other band and those are awsum i agree most of their songs are trash but they do have some nice ones i like. e.g vermillion part 2,duality,wait and bleed and thats bout all
