Having 256k doesn't make ANY difference to your latency. A bigger pipe does not equal better latency. You're not comparing apples with apples here, either. If you took your modem to greedyfly's location, and did the same things from his location, then perhaps we'd be comparing apples with apples here. This kind of statement shouldn't be made without at least a little bit of knowledge about how bandwidth works. There's a vast difference between <i>latency</i> and <i>bandwidth</i>. One is != the other.

I really think you should take your PC back to the place you bought it from and ask them for a refund. If they ask "But why?", tell them "I'm too stupid to own a computer".
