FFS When is Telkom going to get their act together? 3 hours average wait on hold is not acceptable - employ more phone monkeys damn it! After all Telkom appear to have no requirements for being a phone monkey, the more stupid the better it would appear. <rant off>

As for these continued outages and slow speeds, why do we even bother any more? Please, can we get a competitor (as in a real one!) for Telkom.

Well, my ping still isn't fixed and, for the record Telkom, phoning me twice a day requesting to close the fault ticket before it's fixed doesn't do you any credit at all. I know you don't care that I can't work and you really only just want my money without providing a service - after all why actually work when you can just screw everybody?:mad:

You can try the following----> In Internet Explorer goto Tools, Internet options, Connections, LAN Settings, and do the following under "Proxy Server"
1) Delete the "tick"...if there is one
Hit OK and see if you can browse better...if not, do the following ---->

2) Add a tick and add the following :
Adress = cache.saix.net
Port = 8080
and hit OK!!
...hope this helps

Thanks mate, I don't use a proxy server and using the SAIX cache didn't help either. :( Thanks for trying though. The local Telkom technician phoned me not long after I posted my last message to say the problem is NOT at the exchange but between the DSLAM and the rest of the world. He admitted he didn't know a) how to fix it or b) who to contact in order to get it fixed. So once again kippie is screwed. I appreciate his honesty but surely to God there must be somebody at Telkom who can fix this problem. Everybody on the 042-296-xxxx exchange is affected. I am not the only one with problems but I am apparently one of two who are complaining hence the total lack of interest from Uitenhage when it comes to fixing it.

You just HAVE to love Telkom :sick:

phone regional customer care - number is somewhere on hellkom.co.za

Thanks, I will try in office hours. I don't suppose they work after 1630 :D

:( Can't take this anymore! 4Kb/s on the news server downloading a cached file! IS FTL!

Well, I just wished all the other techs could be like this one...Just by telling you the truth already makes a person feel better :)

Quoted for the truth!

This guy is awesome! He is not like others I have dealt with at Telkom. He will pick up the phone and keep you informed of the situation, he gets the job done quickly and efficiently (when he can!). He is one of the few assets Telkom have and I guess I'm lucky to be in his area.

Pings this morning to saix.net 167 and telkomsa.net 199 :sick: Unless I can get this fixed I'm going back to dial-up. :eek:

Iv had my 4m line for 2 weeks now and hav never gotten a sync speed of even a 2mb line. iv been wondering if it might have anything to do with my equipment, or mayb router configuration.. or is it just normal, i mean, it is supposed to be a 1mb line (on 4mb trial) isnt it?
