The equivalent evil twin of fast driving is slow driving.
These are my pet hates:
- Many a time I have encountered drivers deliberately entering the fast lane as I approach without any inclination to increase their speed to the speed to 120km on the freeway. The sin of envy appears to play a huge roll here I would say. I am against people going over the speed limit, but darn if you drive slower than the speed limit on the freeway... move over to the right.
- Another thing is what I call boxing; two vehicle cruising at 40km/h or below in a 60 zone on a two lane road almost in a synchronised driving fashion.
- Not speeding up to join the freeway. I have many a times nearly rear ended a few vehicles who uses the end of the offramp as a stop sign. In peak traffic maybe, but if you can judge the flow of the traffic... my god speed the hell up.
- Not driving with purpose. In urban peak traffic it is not okay to have a following distance of 8 cars... not okay.
- Drivers who have perfected the art of being the first and last over a green robot. Not withstanding that the laws of physics and our know definition of time being broken; its just plain wrong.... wrong I say.
Other little things:
- Your turn at a four way stop is not when the driver infront of you crosses.
- if you enter a circle and you are not planning to exit at the next exit stay on the inside.
- changing lanes without indicating, you intently looking in the direction you will turn will not tell me anything.
- giving other drivers space when they do indicate won't hurt you. typically the boxing driver has it down to an art form to block anyone with a flashing indicator
- enter the turnoff lane at the beginning not right at the end
- its not okay to drop cigaret butts and the like out your window
This I have accepted and made peace with.
I have accepted that the roads are the work place of taxis and as such mentally i have discounted them from all these offenses. but for the most part it tends to be the non taxi drivers causing the most problems.
I have more but I will moan a bit later.
