Slow Driving is dangerous

The equivalent evil twin of fast driving is slow driving.

These are my pet hates:
- Many a time I have encountered drivers deliberately entering the fast lane as I approach without any inclination to increase their speed to the speed to 120km on the freeway. The sin of envy appears to play a huge roll here I would say. I am against people going over the speed limit, but darn if you drive slower than the speed limit on the freeway... move over to the right.

- Another thing is what I call boxing; two vehicle cruising at 40km/h or below in a 60 zone on a two lane road almost in a synchronised driving fashion.

- Not speeding up to join the freeway. I have many a times nearly rear ended a few vehicles who uses the end of the offramp as a stop sign. In peak traffic maybe, but if you can judge the flow of the traffic... my god speed the hell up.

- Not driving with purpose. In urban peak traffic it is not okay to have a following distance of 8 cars... not okay.

- Drivers who have perfected the art of being the first and last over a green robot. Not withstanding that the laws of physics and our know definition of time being broken; its just plain wrong.... wrong I say.

Other little things:
- Your turn at a four way stop is not when the driver infront of you crosses.
- if you enter a circle and you are not planning to exit at the next exit stay on the inside.
- changing lanes without indicating, you intently looking in the direction you will turn will not tell me anything.
- giving other drivers space when they do indicate won't hurt you. typically the boxing driver has it down to an art form to block anyone with a flashing indicator
- enter the turnoff lane at the beginning not right at the end
- its not okay to drop cigaret butts and the like out your window

This I have accepted and made peace with.
I have accepted that the roads are the work place of taxis and as such mentally i have discounted them from all these offenses. but for the most part it tends to be the non taxi drivers causing the most problems.

I have more but I will moan a bit later.

I totally agree with you. My gripe is with drivers on the N17 from Secunda/Nelspruit etc. They made the road nice and smooth, quite a brilliant drive! But the amount of accidents and close calls is staggering. I have noticed the problem - people on that road are driving fast, as its seldom if never manned with a Metro or traffic officer. And you get people who drive 100 in a 120kph zone and simply refuse to give way to the left? There is a spacific peice of road on the left for you to give way so that I can pass - I've seen people sit behind a slow moving car and the traffic backup is about 10-15 cars, and you'd find that 7-8 cars would overtake the car at once...ALMOST ALWAYS causing an accident as a result!

Don't drivers get it, its the other guys perogative whether he wants to drive 189kph...you should give way as to be safe! 99% of accidents happen when people overtake at the wrong time, because the car infront don't want to give way!!!

Most of the time, the reason why people don't move out of the way is because they are being harassed by the driver behind.

I was coming back from a meeting in Durban last night, and pulled in to the "fast" lane to pass a truck...according to my GPS I was doing 119 km/h...within milliseconds, there was a friggin BMW X5 who forced me almost on to the grass on the right, as he forced his way between me and the truck, as he was buggered if he would slow down because he was ding at least 180.

So...the owner of Metallic grey/blue BMW NPS registration...I am watching for you...and I will get you!!

Pet hate is with the onramps - people will just drive slowly instead of accelerating and getting ready to merge into traffic.

LOL Fazda - what I normally do is wait until they flash me as that just triggers some micheal Schumacher shizznizz in my membrane and I happily let them pass, esp if they flashed me at 140 or 150kph...and then I'm right at the back of them doing 180kph...and start flashing madly - suffice to say, they give way ALL THE TIME and drive in the other lane...

Moral of the story - don't dish out what you can' t take!

Why are you so stupid?

You mean to THE LEFT !

Learn the rules of the road man... its people like you who cause accidents.

Things that piss me off every morning (mostly on the M1):
There's a bridge over the highway and then a SINGLE right turn lane for the onramp. Now farking (afrikaans box)es go into the straight lane because the right lane is backed up, and then turn right. This causes the people who actually want to go straight to have to wait til the oke gets a chance to push in and makes the right lane back up more.

People going over a 4 way crossing without enough space to fit into on the other side. This happens at the intersection of empire and jan smuts in braamfontein when there's rain or any other minor reason. Jan smuts is not busy at all, but farking people in empire block up the intersection so one side of jan smuts is COMPLETELY backed up all the way into town while the other side of the intersection is 99% empty. If you're in Empire you don't gain ANYTHING by crossing it because theres still a jam on the other side. Basically someone will enter the intersection and then be surprised they can't go anyway, and then sit in the way of the jan smuts traffic, the robot will change and the next **** will enter while the last **** is not even across yet...

In general:
People passing in the left/yellow lane.
Anyone driving in the left yellow lane that isn't meant to be there, cars with flashing lights and black s classes included.
People littering or chucking out stompies.
People cutting into the following distance I've left between myself and the car in front in an effort to somehow go faster than the traffic flow. Often the same ****es passing in yellow lanes. Also often sit on your arse. If you sit on my arse I will slow down to ****ing 40, at which point you will most likely switch lanes and cut in front of someone and then I'll accelerate and pass you :D Also these people are usually driving a 320i or golf 1.6 and think they fast or something...

Grayston offramp, it gets backed up to turn left, but some people are special and figure they'll use that unused right turning lane to go all the way to the top of the offramp and then just cut in to the left. There's usually tons of metro cops there but people still do it. Then shortly after that there are 3 lanes at the robot, and the leftmost one merges away just after the robot, so some people will use that bit of lane to pass you on the left then merge in 2 seconds later in front of you... The taxis also use the half a yellow lane as a full on lane.

I've met a number of people who didn't know that they were supposed to "keep left, pass right" and almost all of them have been driving for over 4 years. I think there are just a lot of drivers out there that don't know a fair portion of the road 'rules' etc and have managed to get their license by buying it. My brother bought his license and yes, he's one of those terrible drivers.

Erm, no dude...it's you. Road Rage much?

lol I noticed that error too, but thought it wasn't important enough to mention. Suffice to say that we all knew what he meant....

No really, its you man.

Hope you get caught doing 180 and flashing your lights at somebody.
Let us know how clever you feel then.

No man its like seriously YOU!
I'm not even going into that statement there...but ya, it is indeed wrong, but at that time...the evil in me takes over and I just have to go after drivers like that and give them some of their own medicine, mind you, lol - I tried it with an Opel, looked like a GTC, when I got up to it at 160kph coz it flashed me...I was surprised when I heard a down change followed by a psssshhhh sound a loooong farting sound and it was gone...IT OWNED ME!

If I come up behind someone in the fast lane doing anything less than 10Km/h below the speed limit in the fast lane and they refuse to move over despite there being plenty of space, I'll pass them on the right and move in front of them and then start driving 10-15km/h slower than what they're driving at until they move over into the right lane. It pisses the hell out of some of them. That's when I know I've done my part in showing them how it feels.

i think i should try this one next time rather then resorting to getting my ass handed to me in sleeper OPC's that look like GTC's and flashing people at 180kph like a mad man...
