Hi all
I've recently re-installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 with my new hardware:
AStock z77 Extreme 4
Intel 2600K currently at default clock
Corsair Dominator 2x8GB 1600MHz
Corsair TX650W PSU
(And an old 9500GT which I'm upgrading soon)
However, windows really hangs on the shut down times - sometimes for up to an hour. I have done some research of the issue and tried the following:
- Used Symantec's PCtools to fix and clean my registry
- Installed latest drivers
- Booted into safe mode, and the problem did not occur
- Disabled all services, and the problem did not occur
Tracing it down to a single service would be immensely time consuming, so I had a look at the Application event log in the event viewer, which revealed what seems to be a WMI error occurring when I shutdown the PC:
Not sure how to proceed from here.
Thanks for your help
