Correct... Like now it flies!!! but tonight. sometimes exactly at 8pm. business account 40m and a 20m business. both get slow.
I feel your pain. Same my side. And this was NEVER a issue before

Hi Guys
Just a general update on the state of the network
Around last week we saw a really huge spike in demand. We’ve generally had IPC capacity to spare, but this seemed to be consistent step up in demand, and not one we anticipated.
When we see persistent increases like this, we have to first ensure that a) Nothing is broken on the network or with our upstream partners; and b) that we’re correctly identifying all protocols and that we’re shaping efficiently (on products eligible to be shaped) to operate on maximum efficiency.
Once we were satisfied that this was not the case, we made the decision to order more IPC capacity (in all regions) to ensure that we address demand.
I just want to be clear that this is a demand issue which spiked last week. With day to day issues reported, it’s important to remember that we should never assume that the network is congested. Our NOC team and support team have to investigate to determine if this is an individual issue or limited to a small group, or a region-wide or network-wide issue. Thereafter, if it’s broader than an individual or small group of clients, we proceed as I mentioned earlier.
I’d like to thank everyone who has submitted tests and stats - these were very helpful along with our monitoring and user tests we conduct to improve the network.
We expect the additional capacity to go live within the next few days, and we’ll be monitoring closely to ensure we see the improvement and performance that we expect.
Your feedback will also help us a great deal, so we’d all like to thank you in advance![]()
The above would make me leave if I was still with them.
I am also with Afrihost having the same issues. I have a 10MB line and my downloads are averaging 350K to 400K.
Managed to get a test account from Telkom and now the downloads are back between 900K and 1M.
Something is going on with Afrihost's network.
Time to look else where I guess.

Okay, so since last month this issue escalated. Between 6pm and 10pm my line get throttled all a sudden, and my internet is so slow I can hardly do **** on it. I have been struggling more than a month now with Afrihost and Telkom but this issue still persists??
I am on a 4mb Business line with Afrihost and I never had these issues for the past 2 years. Now last month I noticed my Steam downloads being as slow as 7bytes per second. I can not even log into Overwatch servers or any gaming servers between 6pm-10pm.
Also, before or after those hours when my line is actually working as it should with 400+kbs/s, my latency is up with 30ms. For example, if I use to game at 56ms on South African Servers, I now game at 86ms .... That means I use to game at 199ms for Overwatch, I now game at 230ms to as low as 350ms on certain days??
My speed tests qualify fine for a 4mb line which makes my issue all the more weird. Is anyone having such issues for the past month and longer??
What frustrated me more is the fact that for a period of 24/7/365 I never had any issues and ALWAYS had my max speeds no matter time of day ... now all a sudden all this **** is starting and not Afrihost or Telkom can sort out this issue and they all tell me there are not any problems, when I know there are problems.
Heay Sparky862. Really sorry about the late reply. I'm not sure how we missed this thread. Not sure if you know, but we actually launched a dedicated Afrihost Support Sub-Forum than you can check out and start threads on right here.
Since your post our Network Team have identified a shaping classification issue as well as increased IPC capacity on our network. You shouldn't be experiencing the same issues since the middle of last week. How are things running for you at the moment?
Plus as of now my downloads on Steam is as slow at 9 bytes/s
Sorry to hear about your ongoing struggle here. Please feel free to drop me a PM with your account info and we'll troubleshoot this together.
People are already on this issue and still ongoing for 2 months now ...... Still now fix. I mean, just close my account and re-open it without me having to pay extra for it. Is that not a thing you guys can do?? Make a new account for me as if I am a new customer, but I am not a new customer?? Get it??
I'm sorry to hear you say that.As it stands, the sentiment and feedback around performance on our network has definitely improved. Our network team have worked hard at identifying issues and performing necessary maintenance to improve in the last few weeks. We'll definitely have to see some tests results from you in order to determine the cause of your ongoing problems.
I'm not sure what you mean by deleting your account and signing you up again? If the idea is that we prioritize new sign-ups, I can assure you that this is not the case at all. All accounts on our network are managed by the same AUP associated with them, regardless of when they were signed up. Looking forward to troubleshooting this with you more. Please send me a PM with your account information.
