Hi All,
We have a dedicated server with 1-Grid in Cape Town.
We send a requests to an outside server, which happens to be with EliteHosting in JHB.
At peak times the requests are as often as 15 requests per second.
On the server the request takes between 0.6s and 1.5s.
When I run the same code locally on my PC it takes between 0.2s and 0.8s.
So quite a difference.
I checked the ping to the external server from both our server and my local PC (in Durban).
From the server it is 139ms and from my local PC it is 14ms. A huge difference.
I've changed the DNS on the server to the same as my local PC (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) but this has no change.
I'm in the process of communication with the 1-Grid support, but they are not being too helpful and just say it is because I am in Durban, 1-Grid is in Cape Town and the external server is in JHB which is the reason for the difference in latency - Durban being closer to JHB than Cape Town is to JHB.
Any ideas on what we can do to speed this up?
