Howzit Buddy, what is your current setup like, example what router are you using and are you using the standard antenna etc. Might be able to assist by making some small changes to internal setting on router

Its been that way for weeks now. The connection is heavily throttled.

I am in Durban and connection is very good for me. Though i am now on Fibre but it is smooth sailing for me. No issues at all. If you could point out what router you are using, people could try to help you. Slow speeds is nothing new on rain by the way.

Sadly i've been having the exact same issue at home. At work its super fast. but at home I struggle to get my advertised speed.
I can say our poster is not alone here when it comes to slow speeds. Rain supports also gone quiet. with no reply to emails.
If any of you kind folks can help out your advice would be appreciated.
Got the B535 rooter.
10 meter LTE antenna.
PLMN

CELL_ID

Sadly I still could not find my tower. I think my towers either conjested or the rooters trying to connect to a more distant one.

I think I am having the same issue. Rain informed me that there is a tower close to me like less than 1 km away from my house but the Cell ID I pick up as connected to is like 10Km away.

I am using a Huawei B593 router which is an old model. Maybe a new router will be better.

Used to get 4x higher speeds and one can see when it is hard throttled. Not a new user, been one of the first users since rain started.

Regardless of whether router b315 or cellphone, rain does throttle the connection. My telkom link is behaving the same so it's something that's happened to the local towers or exchange but no help from either of them. Signal is not an issue, solid three to four bars. I was considering moving to 5g when it came or the 24hr uncapped but with these speeds, will move away soon as I find a palatable fibre deal.

I do not seem throttled in any way

complaining that you are being throttled without giving any of the details people are asking u about e.g. signal band you are using and exact location in durban will not help you. Having three to four bars means jack squart bro others actually have good speeds with 2 bars.

I agree with the poster about the router connecting to a tower that is way further then the one closest to it. Mine mite be doing the same thing. Sadly you cannot even seem to select the band on wich it connects. to find out if it is using a slower band or the faster one.

Intetesting. I'm saying its ignorant of equipment but sure. In case you missed it I mentioned both devices, one a model specific router and the other cell phone. Both connecting on 4G and based on test samples, 1800mhz. I'll get you the tower ids if you want in a sec

extremely slow speeds during the day (0.5 - 1.5 mbps) night time still slow but not as bad (4 - 5 mbps).
something has to be done, we can't pay for a service we can't use.

Maybe it is not meant to be? i have great speeds with rain but now i am on fibre.

I used to get 20-30 mbps when I first signed up, and it gradually started decreasing 6+ months in, now I can't even get an actual response from Rain, its nothing but automated responses.

I have open complaints with Rain for over 2 weeks now with no response from them.

My speeds are around the 1mbps so I am not sure if they are delibirately throttling users in Durban or its just poor connectivity but it seems like many others in Durban are experiencing the same as me.....

I live less than 1 km away from the Rain tower I connect to and my connection is stable but speeds are just crap consistently now for over 3 weeks now.

Interesting, I thought the lack of speed could've been distance to the tower, but since your less than 1km away your speeds should be blazing fast.

Your right, It does feel like were being hard throttled, my up speed at night is 6+ mbps, and down speed less than 2mbps.

Based on my previous unresolved queries with them I doubt we'll be getting a response anytime soon on the matter, would be nice if MyBroadband contacted them on our behalf, atleast then we might get some clarity

Get fibre guys we all in the same boat everyone is looking for money so spend it on ISP that can offer something good ... they say ... get what you pay for

Touch wood, but my speed tests have been 10 - 12 Mbps and pings around 30 - 50 these past 2 days. Last week was horrendous but has picked up much better this week so far. Long may it continue
