Hi All,

I'm using mweb local (international cap ran out) and I'm trying to update some things in Ubuntu (8.10), however the downloads are going painfully slow or not at all.

The server i'm downloading from is ftp.leg.uct.ac.za/pub/linux/ubuntu

Does anyone know if mweb would be shaping that traffic or is there another local repository to download from?

as far as I know the security updates are international...correct me if I'm wrong.

Code:

#google repos
deb http://dl.google.com/linux/deb/ stable non-free

deb http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian intrepid non-free

Try this. It uses only local (for security updates too) except for virtualbox and google repos. It's also a lot faster than UCT's connection.

How is the IS mirror for you Ubuntu users?

I use it exclusively for my Gentoo updates and they are pretty bang spot on with latests repos.
