Slower Than Normal

I Have the 5GB Cell C USB Internet Stick.

In good days i only get download speeds of 200kbps. Am i not supposed to get speeds of up to 21mbps as advertised?

I know my area plays a part but jeez this is slow.

I stay In Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape.

I have not tested in a while so I thought I would give it a go:

Test conducted on Tue Jul 19 2011 21:33:18 GMT+0200 (South Africa Standard Time)

Download Speed: 8428 kbps (1053.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 847 kbps (105.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 73 ms

One observation: I had a USB extender cable before (I live in poor signal area) to get closer to the window, this had a HORRIBLE negative effect. Make sure your plugging directly or into a powered USB hub.

Diagnose your signal first, make sure your getting 3G not edge, if the signal is bad search the forums for the home made antenna options.

Download Speed: 3771 kbps (471.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1419 kbps (177.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 104 ms

My experiences are closer to those of robertwj in PE, good days are 200kbps. Not much wooshing going on here, alas.

I Agree. I Think Cell C should think about improving their network or towers or something. We pay for 21MBPS internet but dont even get anything near half of that.

The 21Mpbs is the SHARED connection speed between all the clients of the tower. Thus the primary function of the 42Mbps upgrades is to provide a better average experience across the tower user-base.

Well that's false advertising then... Anyway do you know when the upgrades will be done?
