Hi Guys

im looking for a cheap server that i can use with my Fire Tv and Plex. I cant seem to figure out how to get the external hard drive to show up in Kodi via the USB port, although i understand there are ways via rooting the device( i dont want to do this)

i just need something where i can add some drives, and just leave it standing. The laptop battery is taking a beating right now.

Unless somebody can assist me on how i can get the hard drive working on the Fire Tv.

Im willing to give up a Lumia 720 plus box and wireless charger for a basic basic server.

If nobody has, maybe just a bit if advice on what i can do

I bought a Synology DiskStation For R1300 and put an old hard drive in. Run plex and downloads series. Before that I used a Raspberry Pi. if you need transcoding, you're best off with a server/nas. Otherwise, if most of your content is in MP4 already, then a Raspberry Pi B2 or B3 can run plex server well enough.
 
Bought and using a 4TB MyCloud that I paid R1699 on special, the thing works a treat and stays on 24/7.
