Hi

I am looking for an IoT Smart Solar flood light that I could automate with my IP cameras.

Basically if the camera detects motion (at night) then switch on the flood light (for clearer recording)

Hope that makes sense.

I know Ubiquity have one if you already have their cameras. Would it not be easier to install a smart switch on a standard floodlight that turns on when motion is activated on the camera. I have it set up like mine.

But guess the fact you want solar light means you don’t have access to mains ?

Edit. Jumped a bit ahead. The ubiquity is a smart floodlight but not Solar

If you find a good solar flood light then post it here.

I am looking for one but not sure which one is good.

Not sure of something that will integrate with an IOT camera specifically,
However, there are a few EZVIZ and other wifi cameras that have motion detection floodlights built into them.

Separately good solar motion detection lights should in any event burst light once motion is detected, this will be independent of the cameras and may have a slightly different pickup range, but works nicely. A good brand to look into here will be the Taroma 1000 Lumens, they small but of decent quality and packs a decent burst of light.

I assume the camera is solar too hence the need for a floodlight one.

Can't help with the solar, but small battery systems aren't hard to make. Either way, I have led flood lights wired to a smart switch. In Home Assistant, I then have an automation where if camera detects person, then turn on.

Pure motion for me will be a nuisance to everyone else as it is not 100% positive detection.

just get a normal flood light and put a sonoff basic inline. Then through alexa routine automate movement with lights.

This is how I do it with Wyzecams and various different smart lights (switches). But I also run homebridge that automates lights with aqara motion sensor triggers in homekit.
