I'd say LG for OLED.

Samsung for LCD/QLED (although they also have OLED now but not sure when those will be available locally).

I'd avoid Hisense, just because we get different variants here locally that share the same model number as the better international ones (very easy to get duped if you're looking at online reviews).

Sony have really good OLED and LCD TVS but with their history of leaving the market here before, I'd probably just avoid them for the meantime.

TCL have some good prices but also still yet to prove themselves in the local market.

But first decide on your budget and go from there.
 
I've had a Sony for about a year now... really happy with it. Runs Google TV. 65x85j
 
Hi all

I took a look at this thread for a TV suggestion today as I am in the market. I am able to source from a friend in the industry a Samsung Q95T (65") for R22k new in box full warranty. In the States this model goes by the Model Q90T and does not have the One Connect Box any longer, at least the SA one still has it.

I am not too familiar with the latest technology as my current FHD 40" Samsung is over 10 years old. I am hoping you all are a bit more in the know. My budget was about R16k max, but this TV to me seems really great and maybe too good to miss out on even if its at almost 40% over my budget.

Would you say this TV is an exceptional buy even at 40% my budget?

Replaced my Samsung with a TCL after a power surge took it out. No regrets.
 
So my oldest LG is a 32" LCD Panel, bought in 2007, no issues. Actually gave it away a month ago
Second oldest LG is a 32" 3D LED Panel, bought in 2013, no issues. Currently in the bedroom with Mi TV Stick
Third oldest is a 55" Nano 86, 2 years old, no issues thus far
Newest is a 65" Nano 75, 3 months old, no issues thus far

Based on the oldest ones, the newest ones had to be LG :)

It's only been 2 years , but going strong.

To OP: 2 x Samsung 55inch tvs, one bought in 2014 and one purchase in 2019.

Edit: 2009 Sony Bravia 40 inch still going strong.

Check what the one just started doing after 1.5 years

Brand new panel and it did exactly the same thing, just slightly lighter. At new it was uniform and this happened overnight

Anyone have experience with LG Oled warranty claims?
my LG CX decided to die yesterday (powers on, lines on the screen, then turns off). Have 4 months warranty left.

Do they repair the Oleds or do they replace?
