Been trying to get into the smartwatch world and honestly, it's a bit overwhelming. I just want something similar to a watch, has a decent GPS for travel and nothing else too fancy.

The Galaxy Watch 4 - ticks all the boxes, but I just don't have the money for something like that. Looking for something in the budget range of R1000 - R2000.

Huawei GT 2 PRO - Same as the Galaxy Watch, just seems less for the same price given that Huawei Google Play services.

Huawei GT 2 - This one is actually on a decent sale right now for R2799, but does seem out dates.

Any recommendations, suggestions and such?

I have the Huawei Watch GT2e. Decent enough, though I don't have much to compare it to. Nice bright, easily readable screen. Does notifications, does fitness, SpO2, etc. Can make your phone call you if you mislaid the phone. Can act as a remote shutter for phone camera. Sleep and heart rate measurement is good. Battery life is excellent. The GPS lock is very, very quick, and for running, it works OK - GPS-measured distance tends to be a little short, and they have only just introduced a sync to Strava.

How's playing music on it?
Does it sync ok with a non-Huawei Android phone?
TIA

Would love to get the GT2e, but sadly its out of my budget, going to see if I can pickup the GT (original) for R899

If fitness and sport is a thing for you, its not even a contest. Garmin would be best.
It's mostly for features like GPS, Fitness and time. That's about it, I'm not looking to read messages or anything fancy like voice communication.

Just wish the budget smart watches didn't look like a square apple watch brick.

I ordered 2 x flash drives from them.
I received an e-mail & SMS informing me to collect my package at Foschini within 2 days.

They offer free delivery if you collect at certain stores.
Awesome, thank you! Just need to check out a few more reviews and will probably end up getting this, since the Huawei GT is permanently out of stock

Not interested in paying with them?

I haven't tried playing music from it (I use my phone), and while I do have a Huawei phone, my daughter's GT works fine with a Samsung, and it's the same software.

So my final debate is between the Huawei GT and the Xiaomi Mi Watch. Might just grab the GT and be done with it till I can afford something with Wear OS like the Samsung 4 or TicWatch, disappointed about TicWatch not having a Black Friday sale, but I don't mind since I know what it's like to run a business during black Friday.

Update: Given that the Huawei GT isn't going to be in stock anytime soon and all the sales ended for it. I might give the R1799 Xiaomi Mi Watch (global) a chance.
