Smart Watch Recommendations?

Not a fan of the Fitbit series and them being weird squares.

My wife's Galaxy Watch 4 came today (R3999 sale), and it's noticeably better than my Galaxy Watch (3rd one, which is not called Galaxy Watch 3).
The screen looks better and is smoother. It being Android Wear instead of whatever Samsung's was also means better app compatibility.

Now she just needs a new phone so she can pair it

Would love the Galaxy Watch 4, have seen so many great reviews and compared to older watches. Just sadly R3999 vs R1099 or even R1799 (Xiaomi Mi Watch) is a large difference, even if it is a flagship that is brilliant, can't justify it right now.

The mi watch is R1599 on the vodabucks store.

I have seen some Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 watches on Facebook Marketplace and Carbonite, claimed to be new for around R2000.

Managed to grab a Galaxy Watch 4 from the Vodabucks store at R1499

Got a Galaxy Watch 4 Classic from the E-Bucks store = Free (used about R3000 worth of e-bucks)

If I was you I would put my money in a savings account and save up for a Garmin instinct. You will be charging your android watch every 1-2 days and get bored of its features very quickly. I was also waiting for the Ticwatch pro 3 to be on special and after reading the reviews on google it looks like it does not like water..

Instead I bought a instinct solar and I am very happy with my purchase since I have had all sorts of smart watches in the past(huawei, samsung, fitbit) I even replaced my Fenix5 with the solar cause its so over complicated.

Thats just my 2cents

The great thing with the Garmin fitness watches,
battery life is excellent.
I charge mine every 10 days or so.

Currently using the Fitbit charge 2, for an old device it still works fairly well but I am due an upgrade.
My options are either the Fitbit Versa 2, Garmin forerunner 45/45s, any recommendations or suggestions between the three options? Is the Garmin useful/effective at tracking weight training/gym workouts as well as running etc?
