SmartBroadband Wireless Coverage

Not 100% sure but I am on the smarthome premium packackage and 3g works a charm if there is an MTN network available.
Just so you know, most of the time while travelling, your on the MTN roaming.

I do not have Telkom coverage but my Telkom line roams on MTN, am I correct to assume I could take up this package and roam on MTN?

They say it will work on 3G if your are outside LTE area or poor LTE signal.

Buy a preaid sim from Telkom shop.
Activate it.
Call 180 to make sure LTE and 3G Provisioned.
Load some data using prepaid (dial 180)
Test connection.
Decide you happy than order.
This method helps if you not in coverage area but you get signal from tower (worked like this for me on 2 locations)

OR...

Try a telkom re-seller.... these guys independent contractor who will test and set up service for you.

GOOD luck. I can confirm 1 and option 2 work.

PS: I used to use Telkom 3G (HSDPA) for gaming and it is very good. Used to add a desktop aerial so it would work better because I hated a signal drop (but signal would only drop maybe 4 times a month).

PSS check roaming with Telkom. Some contracts are locked to a tower (and you need to submit a move application) and some are truly mobile contracts.

I'm now on a farm near Somerset East. My phone is on MTN.

To me this is amazing for 3G.
If Telkom uses MTN network for roaming, I assume the Telkom results would be the same??
When you look at the Telkom network coverage map, there are two types of 3G - Telkom 3G - and Roaming 3G and the coverage is not the same.

You can just apply for the product you want, and according to the National Consumer Protection Act, you have 1 week to return any goods you are not absolutely happy with, for whatever reason, and they have to refund you. I even checked this with them and they said that yes, that is correct.

My area is apparently not covered by LTE at all, yet I took the B593 router and I have 3-4 bars signal all the time on LTE. I get D/U speeds of 33mbps/5mbps. You have nothing to lose.

And to be honest, this is the best internet connection I have ever had. It's soooo much better than my old ADSL that frequently disconnected.
