[SmartCall] 50% Off Vodacom Airtime

I have also had numerous calls by flexicall about this. Effectively on the familytop-up you still pay R135 per month but you get R270's airtime. Contract is per month to month basis.

with the smartcall smartup you can pay R83.25 per month and get R 270 airtime, plus you also receive a once off R 29 free airtime when you send your ID.
 
Is this an ongoing offer? I will be needing something from end September. Also, with MNP coming, could one bring one's number with?
 
to me this sounds like a load of balls, who really have a grand laying around to use with this smartcall thing? How much does smartcall get paid for airtime sales etc (while dealers usually only make R2-R3/R29 airtime sold)???
 
How it works

Smartup, Flexicell, MyAirtime (Ellerine's offering), Vair (Edcon's offering) are all just wrappers around a Vodacom family top-up contract. Instead of using the network subsidy on a new connection to finance a phone, it is subtracted from the price of the contract. Look out for a cut in this subsidy, and a corresponding price increase of all said products at the beginning of September '06.
Don't confuse this with regular prepaid airtime, on which the margin ranges from 10-12%.
