I am so disappointed in Cell C! Have just become the proud owner of a N70 via upgrade just to discover that Cell C does not support almost all the snazzy features like video calling, push to talk, video streaming, mobile tv, etc. What the hell do I pay my hard-earned moola for when all the cool stuff is on other 3G networks? And according to Cell C, there are no plans to go 3G in the near future cos of "business costs"! Well I for one am willing to pay a premium for these services! Porting is not an option right now due to the exorbitant cost, so I might as well use this lovely phone as a paperweight. Smartphone, dumb network, indeed
 
Dumb network pretty much sums it up. Cell C stated they're wanting to go after low income subscribers who clearly aren't interested in 3G services.
 
Is it too late to cancel the upgrade, return the phone, and go elsewhere?
 
Maybe theres a 7 or 14 day get out clause....

I assume you got that phone from cellc..

Last time i checked, virgin were not offering 3g phones - which is obviously the right thing to do as they dont offer a 3g service.
 
cell c offer the phones, but dont offer 3g services, their network can handle 3g services but they choose not to activate it because of the costs of running etc. Trust me, 3g isnt that great, before my N70 was stolen I was with MTN, i never used the features, try find a friend that has a video calling enabled phone and that is in a 3G enabled area!

nope, virgin offers N70 too

Please be advised that push to talk is not yet available in South Africa and as for the video calling we do not know when that will be available in Cell C as yet. Video calling is the same as 3G.
1 gb data bundles is R499 per month.
If there is something you still need to know please contact us on 140 or 084 140 from another line.
