Smartwatches actually are cool

Consumers are warming to the idea that wearing a computer on their wrists or clothing may not be the fashion faux pas that early clunky prototypes led many to fear, with 2015 poised to be a breakout for the much-hyped trend

The article basically said that the main demand is from businesses who want to constantly monitor and micromanage employees. In what way does this make the devices cool?

From another thread I posted in a few minutes ago:

I'm going to buy myself one just for schits and giggles :)

Also don't think that currently it is cool but it definitely will be in future.

Personally I do not think they are cool yet but maybe in the future it will be a nice gadget to have.

For example: would you have a smart watch or a Patek Philippe? (One day when I'm big I want a Patek)

I think watch companies will never die due to good quality watches having that certain je ne sais quoi.

I have an idea for a raspberry pi project. Wire it up to an led display. Presstick the display to the Pi. Strap to wrist. ComputerWatch :)
