I posted a similar question on the 8ta thread.

I bought the above router, from Dion Wired, and have been trying to get it to connect to both
Cell c and 8ta, with no success.

The Cell-c is a Huawei C0197 .. the 8ta, a C0682.

The access codes, for both 8ta and cell-c are the same .. *99#, and the APN name is also the same - internet

When you attach the 3g dongle to the router, it goes thru a set-up phase, and then tries to connect .. the 3g
indicator blinks, like it is trying to connect, but, u never get a solid light, to indicate it has connected.

The dongle IS on the compatibility list .. so, it should work.

I have changed numerous settings/re-set to factory etc .. and have now sent SMC in the UK a note, to say, HELP.

Has anyone-else got one of these to work ?

I will go back to Dion later, and ask them .. but, in all honesty, am not too hopeful.

Thx

Ok, so, 100 people looked, and no-one commented .. so ..

Called Dion .. they said, come in, they would try to help.

Did that this morning - Dion Wired, Woodmead.

Went to the propeller heads desk, and got a nice guy called Metteo.

He wasnt aware of an issue, and we went thru what I had done (SMC by the way, hadnt replied to my email), and he got
the same probs I had experianced.

He then called Philimon, who said .. 'yes, there is a problem with the new dongles .. it does work, with the old Vodacom dongle - E0682'.

We managed to find a E0682 dongle, and with a vodacom sim, it does Connect !!

I then put the 8ta sim, in the E0682 dongle, and that also connects !!

The thru-put doesnt seem great, and my laptops barely work, but my sons playstation was showing 33% signal, but
then lost it, and now wont re-connect.

So, something.

I askled them, why they sold it, without informing customers it doesnt work with the new dongles (althou it is on the compatibility
list), and they said, most people have the old dongles.

Anyway .. sort of fixed.

(I just edited the first post, to include the model numbers, and noticed the 8ta modem, is the same model number as the vodacom one. However, the 8ta C0682 does not work, but the vodacom C0682 does .. go figure ..)

CE0682 it is an Euro certification mark on my 8ta E367.

Oh, you are right .. The 8ta model number is a Huaweii E367, but on the end, its stamped CE 0682 .. the E is a funny E - like a Euro.- doesnt work.

The cell-c stick, is a Huaweii E1820, stamped CE 0197 (doesnt work)

The vodacom dongle, is model no, K3715, stamped CE 0682 ..(does work).

Sorry for confusion.

It works on older modem. Check on the WEB modem compatibility list for your router. Usually it doesn't work with modems not supported. Check if there is a new firmware supporting these modems.
