SMS APN settings

Hi All

Do any of you know how I can trigger the SMS that sends out he APN settings on Vodacom? Most of the information on the first 5 pages of google is just incorrect so I'm hoping someone here can set me right. I'm trying to get it to deploy to a modem so I can't just input it in the settings.

Just add the APN manually.

Name: internet
APN: internet

Edit, saw your last sentence.

What type of modem doesnt let you add this in?

SMS does not use APN. It uses a message centre number. In Vodacom's case it is +27829129

If you are looking for APN settings for internet connectivity you can use either of the below

internet
lte.vodacom.za

leave the rest of the fields blank.

What type of modem doesnt let you add this in?

I need to see the format of the SMS PDU so that I can replicate it. The best way to see that is to send it to a modem.

*111# as I recall for Vodacom.

Put the simcard in the modem. Vodacom usually send service sms's when a new device is detected.

I can't find the option. Documents I've read say it's 10 (next), 3(services), 2(Phone setup) but the sending settings options aren't there anymore.

I'm watching for SMSes coming in and there's nothing.

I phoned the call center. They say the only way to do this now is to phone them and get them to trigger the message. Fun...
