Have Vodacom started carry over for SMS bundles as well? My wife's contract SMS bundle balance seems to include the unused SMSs from last month.

On my own pre-paid number I recently tried to send an SMS to a Neotel number but it kept on failing. SMSs to mobile numbers were being sent, and I had successfully sent to this particular Neotel number in the past.

I spoke to a customer care consultant who told me I direct my query to Neotel. It then occurred to me that I had no airtime and I was only using my SMS bundle. The consultant then told me that SMSs to Telkom phones cost R0.90 and don't come out of data bundles and we agreed that it must be similar for Neotel.

I have noticed that if I request my SMS bundle balance on *111#, the message reads "you have xxx national SMS's available".
I have also checked Vodacom's SMS terms & conditions and there it states "SMSs in the bundle are for national use only".

Why aren't SMSs to Telkom and Neotel considered national?

Just a partial answer, we've noticed rollover on SMS-bundles is in effect provided a new bundle is loaded prior to expiry. The unused portion of the old bundle + the new bundle all gets the same expiry date.

Apparently not.

*111# shows 298 SMS remaining, vodacom4me shows 145 remaining.
I tried to report this to customer care, but they wouldn't log the incident and give me a reference number because since June 1 top-up customers have been unable to see their SMS balance on *111#.

I tried explaining that this isn't a top-up contract, but to no avail.

The extra 153 SMS were left over from when my wife migrated from an SMS 500 bundle to and SMS 300 bundle in May. These 153 SMS continued to be added to the *111# total until the end of July. The problem seems to be fixed now.
