I've recently noticed that whenever I try to send an sms response to one of those automated systems used by banks and insurers and the like, I get a "Failed to send" error on my Galaxy Note.

I checked my message centre number and sent an sms to a friend on Vodacom, and that works fine. Its only when I need to opt a reply to Absa or Discovery or similar that it fails.

Any ideas on how to resolve this?

Kinda curious what service you're using that requires you to send an sms. One of those things I haven't used for years now.

Stop sending them messages,

Most of those numbers don't actually exist, why would you want to sms them anyway?

Got a lekker sounding cherrie there or something?

I don't care so much about the banks & etc, but one of the services I'm having issues with is a healthcare patient support program. So, yes I can do workarounds and phone support instead. But I am curious as to whether this is a known issue on Telkom mobile and it would be convenient if there was an easy fix.

Did you eventually manage to fix this? My dad is having the same problem. SMS's work fine except to those short marketing-related numbers.
I tested with his SIM in my phone and the problem persists, so it's something related to his Vodacom account.
How can we fix this?

Will be surprised if you get an answer from OP ; hasn't been around the forum (while logged in at least) for 7 months.
