I just received the following sms from iBurst:

"Your account is now being handed to our attorney. Ref:448810 To stop this process, please call: Kogil on 031-3101819

iburst - r561.00 + cost"

I have closed my iBurst account 5 years ago, and I did not own them a cent.

Is this a scam?

no there was a mistake and all these users are getting free data if you read the myADSL headlines a day or 2 ago it might still be there

If iBurst realised that it was a mistake, why do they keep on harassing their old customers?

They apologise but keep on doing the same thing?

Does not make any sense.

I do not want free data from this backwards company!

What happened there (if you read that thread) was that the ledger of customers was handed over from the one debt collection agency to another one, and a lot of the accounts was mistakenly flagged as "open".

Hence the SMS'es.

exactly and it will actually take some time as it is not just like 10 clients it could be as many as 40k clients so will take a while to get through everyone.

Not sure exactly how they are checking which accounts are suppose to be open

This is backwards; Surly if you know there is a problem you suspend all SMS's until you have verified that your data is correct.

Hi BBSA

Please drop me a call or send me your contact detail.

I am sure I can assist in this issue.

Thanks

If the debt is already older than 3 years, be careful not to do anything to endanger your rights under the prescription law.

The slightest hint that you might owe them money, might make you need to pay up in the end.

In this case however, I guess it is safe to take Shaun an his word, and contact him ASAP!

Hi there

Just need more info so that I can handle it on our side.

We do not run with their system or have any links to it.

you can just SMS me your full name with plus minus date of cancellation for me to locate the issue and resolve.

Thanks

BBSA, won't you send the details to Shaun? Especially the number you received the SMS on. I want to see if we can trace it.

I suspect it was a late network delivery and if not (i.e. it did get sent today), all hell is going to break loose.

Contact Shaun.

Shaun and Jannie went out of their way during this past week to get an issue resolved for me.
My posts in the recent threads are there if you want to check.

Shaun will get this fixed for you.

Hi Danie

Apologies for the stress.

Everything at zero balance and all cleared.

Please use this posting as finalisation and clearance of your account.

Have a great evening.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Maybe you did not pay your last payment after your notice period?

This is indeed the case with most of those who have received the outstanding balance SMS notification, i.e. there is an outstanding amount on their account.

But there were also the 106 cases (of about 4000) who got this SMS when their balance was in fact zero, i.e. the whole problem that played out here over the last few days.

I honestly think this entire thing was a storm in a tea cup. When I recieve a SMS for a account i know is fully paid I just ignore it. Jannie & Shaun has demonstrated that they are willing to address any issue and I must applaude you guys.

This example MUST now be emulated by other service providers & we will be on our way to 1st world customer service levels in no time.

MISTAKES do happen & a 100 in 4000 ratio is a acceptable margin of error.

P.s Shaun I did get you pm, don't worry it is nothing that crytical so I will not bothe you with it. It seems like these rougue SMS  are causing you guys enuf trouble :D
