How much does it cost for an SMS sent to the US. Mtn to TMobile friend (ie: cellphone to cellphone) ? Like R5 ? R1? 10?

You could also try to send the SMS directly from T-Mobile's website. The receiver may be required to pay to receive the SMS.

Alternatively you could try to send an e-mail to phone#@tmomail.net or to the e-mail addresses of any of the other US networks. See below.

I send my international sms'es via skype - iirc the rate is only 60c and it spoofs my number so any replies go straight to my phone.

You may also be able to use MTN's SMS to e-mail service. I think this is normally charged at local SMS rates (20~40c) but you better check on this. Use the T-Mobile phone number e-mail address as explained above (i.e. #@tmomail.net).

To send an email from SMS then follow these steps: Start a new SMS on your phone. Enter the recipients’ email address. Leave a space. Type your message. Send the message to 083 123 MAIL (083 123 6245).

Do you get a delivery report with that? I'm currently having a problem with Mobisms, but then again the normal smss from my phone to Europe are also not working
