I must be very lucky that I haven't received any spam whatsoever on Mobile Two*MiFi* and Mobile Three.

Only message that I did receive was the please call me sms I sent to check that the number given to me was assigned correctly

If you open a contract or buy a new pre-pay SIM and find that the 'new' number assigned is prefixed 07 or 08 then it's almost certainly a recycled number!

I have RICA'ed a new SIM, have then been SMS'ed the new number and within 30 seconds got a "you've won" spam message!!

RICA do not pass on your details, the only people who have access to your details (without a court order) will be your network provider and even then, they will get you to pass a security fence before they will even speak to you.

Recycle numbers are the worst thing ever! If the other party who had the number registered on premium services automatically when you receive the number you will be subscribed automatically without your knowledge whatsoever.

As of lately noticed with CELL C/VODACOM they are assigning 061 prefix numbers. *Peace of mind*.

There must be a body/regulator that can do will this cause it's ridiculous and unacceptable cause these folks that do this are criminal elements. Normally this is how they will gain personal information about you if you gullible/naive to actually believe such spam messages.

Only select few have access to RICA details and normally they work within the organization*SP*. I was shocked that when I contacted CELL C, they knew just with my number how many other numbers I had under my name just via the rica method. 8ta/Telkom Mobile is even worse - when you logon to check your data already your Name & Surname is there without registering.


I talk way too soon, here are some of the SPAM sms received so far.
