SMS to check data bundle balance?

Have u managed to get this working?
General information & product set-up:

I keep trying to send "do" to 2222 from cellphone and from data modem software, but keep getting "Message failed".
I can understand ... if this is a data only package, perhaps the sim isnt enabled to be used as a phone (it doesn't want to call the advertised number either)
All the telkom helpdesk tells me is that "it should work"... which doesnt help me ****... it DOESNT work.
I've been thinking now.... on Vodacom/MTN you should have a "message centre" setup in message settings to send & receive sms's...
Shouldnt it be the same with Telkom sim? Have u setup any settings?
Sux a bit that Telkom 'helpdesk' dunno nutting

I have absolutely no idea and are just stabbing in the dark here perhaps try: *2222#
 
Seems the function is not operational as yet --- tried as well. We need to contact there helpdesk for this info.
 
The Telkom support dude says "it should work"....
They told me to go back to Telkom shop, and swop the simcard.
The madam at the shop was like "Hmf, we dont swop sim cards, you can connect to internet, so its not faulty"
I say "K@k, its not working correctly, it doesnt send sms to check balance as per website, and support guys say it should work... besides, here is sms from Telkom with ref no of logged query to replace sim... so duh!"... she must be from old school telkom employees :)
Swopped simcard for another new sim.... .... does the same thing!... no can do sms.
So either I keep swopping sims until I get one that works, or I wait for the "planned" website to check balance.

yeah, looks like they finally got it working.
I'd still like a proper website monitoring service, like vodacom4me is to voda users.
