hi there

I have a Telkom contract that has been on month to month for atleast 4 years.
For like R85 I get FreeMe 500mb top up deal but it is really like 1GB. Data also lasts 60 days I believe.

Sim is actually my mums primary number for receiving calls etc but she doesnt use the data.
I transfer data to myself and my dad.

Lately it has been running out faster than I would like. Can I get more data for a similar amount by upgrading?

I have seen these LTE deals: https://www.telkom.co.za/personal/mobile/lte
Would the sim still be able to make and receive calls on this deal?

Thanks

Don’t know why you didn’t upgrade long ago. R85 for a Gig is daylight robbery.

committing to another contract means tying myself to them for X months and it served its purpose. Contract also basically served 3 people.

And it was cheaper but they have always been increasing the contract cost over the years, but R85 is still not breaking the bank at all.

But you did it for four years, so clearly commitment is not an issue for you.

R85 might not break the bank but it is a lot of money for a gig in this day and age.

With most contracts you should be paying R8 - R15 a gig. So start shopping.

Fair but I could leave without penalty whenever I want, whereas a new contract there are penalty fees etc.

Hence I am asking but favouring Telkom as I believe only them and Cell C allow data transfer

MTN does as well

Not much Telkom advice on here XD

This one is only 12 months and R99 but speaks about anytime and night time data.
Any idea how much of the 12.5GB is anytime? Is this only for home LTE and does it allow calls on the sim?

Seems to be a prepaid month bundle of 10GB for R159

Seems like Mo'nice is still the move

Well on the Freeme contract you mother probably get a good chunk of any net free minutes plus a lot of on net free minutes.
So on a data only contract I don't know if she would be able to call and receive, but she definitely not going to have free call minutes anymore.
So first find out what she actually get and then find another Freeme or Flex on contract with something similar.

I was with Vodacom for more than a decade, Then with Cell C for a few years. Now with Telkom for 5+ years. Not a days problem with Telkom, unlike Vodacom.
Used telkom for a long time until I switched to MTN because the local towers were dog. It all depends on your area end of the day.

no any network minutes anymore sadly, only 3000 telkom minutes pm :/

is there a way to see what she gets on the website or app? the plan name is Freeme 500mb top up as per the invoice.

Actually fair cos I have telkom and cellc in my phone and I get better coverage mostly than the SO on vodacom.
