SMTP problem - no woosh on outgoing emails

how difficult can it be to track down a problem with a mail server? if I ping mail.cmobile.co.za, I get a "Ping request could not find host mail.cmobile.co.za" error
 
Mine has started working again this morning.

@Gopes, i hope yours comes right soon.
 
mine is still not working, how the bloody hell am I expected to run a business when I can't send mail? come on CellC :mad:

So this problem is still persisting with Cell C not capable of processing smtp? Just spoke to Mweb Tech support, and they confirmed that they have an Outage for Cell C smtp.

Anybody else still suffering this? I thought it was my modem???
 
Still ongoing today, unable to get e-mails out -- another good reason why no serious mobile broadband user should have just one company's SIMcard in their arsenal!
 
what's interesting is there doesn't seem to be a large amount of complainants, so either most people are using different outgoing SMTP servers so haven't noticed the problem (fortunately I have that work around), or else it's a fairly limited issue

Just was thinking about the info requested, you can easily CLONE a Sim with that???!!?

Comments anyone / OMB?

Would be a nasty affair to try reverse such and occurance - No disrespect intended! ?

LoL, all reps are validated by the mods and that's why reps have a different colour nick :)
 
Shot for that that reply OMB, and hat tip to Cell-C for his support here. Seems that is a serious problem at CC HQ!

Trust they get is sorted soon...

Mine's finally up and running again. But out of interest, is there an easy way to use a non-Cell C SMTP server for outgoing mail when connecting via Cell C? My ISP of course does not allow its own SMTP server to be used.

Ask your ISP if they have an SMTP server that requires authentication.
Even better, just use smtp.gmail.com, but you'll need to associate your ISP's email address with your gmail account first.
 
I found this as an alternative SMTP for cell c users:

196.38.218.30

Works fine :) and got me up and running again!

PS: i have no idea who this ip address actually belongs to.... so please use it at your own risk.
