smtp.vodacom.co.za

Thanks SFW007 .. works fine now with the IP address .. and no it is not just MWeb people who have this problem .. I have had 3G for about 2 or 3 months now (in Cape Town) and I generally love it .. but the one problem I seem to have most often is with the sending of mail, usually due to there being no disk space on the server !?! Today, of course, it was something different. Luckily, I still have my dial-up connection as back up or I'd be tearing my hair out.

these issue`s will be resolved it cannot go on like this if there is no space i got a spare 80gig to borrow *jke*

lmao

as for cape town it seems every where i go there is 3G coverage except in(melkbos)

These services are being brought back in-house, to give Vodacom better control.

You skould get a much more pleasant experience on all data services once the new infrastructure is in place.

Vodacom3g,

Well, i just want to thank you on behalf of all adsl users for your prompt attention to service on these forums. It is refreshing to know that when a problem crops up, it is looked at and sorted out.

Once again, thank you for listening.....

hi v3g

Just tested and there are still problems. Users of 3G who dont know about the IP will still be having problems

The host 'smtp.vodacom.co.za' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'pop3.mweb.co.za', Server: 'smtp.vodacom.co.za', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11004, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

Haven't used the Vodacom SMTP server in a while as I use the office SMTP server but I can't connect. This used to work a few weeks ago:

Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.vodacom.co.za

Error: Task 'Vodacom - Sending' reported error (0x80042109) : 'Outlook is unable to connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

Still not. And I am using the automatically assigned DNS servers.

change the smtp to 168.210.129.147 should resolve yall`s issue`s dns issue it seems

I am forced to really 'test' 3G properly, including the SMTP server. I must say, overall I am happy, but not with the SMTP server. I use the IP address as default for the smtp server, but the server keeps dropping the connection when I try to send e-mail???!

And the problems continue :(

Server: '168.210.129.147', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '452 4.4.5 Insufficient disk space; try again later', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 452, Error Number: 0x800CCC78

Log files??? :o

Still the same:

Task 'Vodacom - Sending' reported error (0x80042109) : 'Outlook is unable to connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

I honestly can't believe it's taking this long to sort out. Really not acceptable.

Peter,

Are you quite sure this is not WinDoze playing up? The error message is a standard Microsoft one and it may be possible to fix it quite easily. I've had a similar problem recently as a result of an update I accepted.

Bruce

Working again now. Think it was a DNS issue. Took loooong to fix.

smtp.vodacom.co.za troubles again

Anyone having trouble with smtp.vodacom.co.za on the internetvpn APN?

Problems again today. Anyone else? Note I use the internetvpn APN.

Switched to 3G and sent another test message via smtp.vodacom.co.za without any problems - both connections were using "internet" APN.

Shot in the dark

Biometrics,

Any possibility that while using internetvpn APN, you cannot see the smtp server due to it being on a private IP number?

Just wondering, maybe I am way off, a I haven't checked myself
