Sneaky Leaky - 12mpix Nokia N87

Whats wrong with their music store?

Nokia have fixed a lot of things way ahead of competitors - like lightweight powerful multitasking OSes amongst other things. The imaging quality of previous N8x phones have been remarkable - often out classing N9x device. If the N87 does see the light of day it will be a pretty awesome piece of hardware.

If you compare it to a fashion gadget like an iPhone with a sucky 3megapixel camea or a BlackBerry with a 65k color screen start to see just how "fixed" this phone is.

I find it insane that they squeezing more pixels onto those tiny sensors. I'd rather have a better quality 6 megapixel sensor, than an overcrowded 12 megapixel sensor.

So it's a nice camera then? U can buy better ones for less than R1000 if that's what u need.

Their OS is always buggy, crashes ofen, and needs a few firmware upgrades before they become useable.
They tend to release their phones while they are in beta stage and let their customers do their beta testing for them.

I know older versions of Symbian (prior to 9.2) has been sluggish and buggy - but newer models are rock solid and considering their powerful multitasking ability it shows how flexible and adaptable the Series60 Symbian platform is. With Maemo entering their product portfolio things can only improve even more.

Newer camera phones are able to compete with point&shoot cameras and in some cases they outperform them. Taking into account that the best camera is always the one you have with you - phones like these are bound to become the best camera in many situations.

Do you really want to leave home with a Cellphone, Netbook, Mp3 player, GPS navigator, Camera and what not or would you rather just slip a N-series device in your pocket ?

If the N900 works as advertised, and you don't need to spend 3 days reading a manual to figure out how it works - Then I may be interested in a Nokia phone again.
Otherwise I'd rather go for a Samsung one.

P.S.
"•As we mentioned before, this is a pretty raw phone. Basic features like MMS and portrait mode aren't supported; MMS won't be a big deal for many users, but being forced to use the N900's non-phone functions in landscape is a pretty big deal"

Seems Nokia are only 2 years behind Apple in scrapping MMS.
Although Apple went and added it later.
