LOL, yes, but I think Pete's campaign manager has been dossing on the job, need roadshows & public debates where Ivy & Pete stare at each other plankly, perhaps they could appear on a celebity Weakest Link together...MaD said:

May I just say: GOOD! That is how it is friggin supposed to be! Duh. That's what competition is for, so that you feel threatened and thus have to try to win the market based on, I dunno, low prices and good service, rather than enjoying guaranteed lack of competition by the government. What's their point exactly? The way they spin it, you'd think it really was the government's job to protect companies from competition. We must get rid of that mindset ASAP, it's the total antithesis of free market capitalism.
Frankly I'd be a lot more worried if they didn't feel threatened. I hope it's actually true, and remains true, as if so, it's a good sign.
The SNO is backed by big players, who have a lot of investment capital to be able to set up their infrastructure at own cost and still (theoretically) provide decent prices in order to to win market share. They don't have to charge high prices to be able to "cover their initial infrastructure costs" (and that SAn mindset too must stop); obviously they'd prefer to though if they can. If I recall, this was the exact argument used by Vodacom and MTN ten just over years ago as an explanation of why their prices were so high -- they promised the call charges would come down, but they never did.
