SNO website available

Has anyone contacted them regarding partnering with Skype to provide lower rates and hopefully add us to the SkypeOut Global Rate list. Should be some easy money for them

I would think that they'd sooner provide their own voip offering - unfortunately.

bwana : Dont know about that. One of the major problems they are facing is how to get people to move from Telkom to them. This is easier in the ISP and business market, so that will be their first target. Skype will allow them to take a cut of an already massive market. If they rolled their own, they would need to create the software and partnerships for their equivilent of SkypeOut. Then they will need to convince people to use theirs and not the popular options (Skype and Yahoo!)
I think it will be much easier for them and more profitable if they simply partner with Skype

Invitation from SNO as read on their website (under the tab, Careers@SNO):

"If you want to participate in the SNO initiative and re-write the history of the telecommunications industry in South Africa, please send in your Curriculum Vitae at [email protected]"

I believe that we have highly skilled people associated with this forum.

This is indeed an excellent invitation!

SNO Telecommunications

Hmmm... Second National Operator Telecommunications? That name does not abbreviate very well.

Let's hope they don't live up to it.

I'd certainly like to thumb my nose at Telkom, but I don't want to end up getting stuffed in the process...

OK, I'll stop.

The site's been up for almost two weeks or so already:p was gonna post something on it but presumed someone already had :D Guess I was wrong :p

These guys are Indian - maybe they don't realise the implications?! :D

Well I say good on them for hosting overseas - they surely don't want their first expenses bill with "Telkom" written on it :p.

@JStrike: It's a good idea although the rates will probably be higher as Skype AND the SNO want a slice of the profits.
