Why?

Cause they can't confirm my job via a landline.

I work from home, so I don't have an "office" number. Yes, I have a landline, but nobody picks it up, since it almost exclusively for the fax machine (and the intertron).

Even if I did pick it up, it would just be me saying "yeah, I work here"...is that even legal in the first place?

On top of that, my boss doesn't work out of an office either, but no, I can't give them his cell numbers to contact, cause it has to be a land line.

Thanks Cell C, way to go.

Hi
My application was also declined by Cell C direct for reasons only known to them. So i took my 3 months bank statement, payslip, and proof of residence to a Cell C store in Menlyn (Pretoria) and was in and out with my SpeedStick in less than 3 minutes.
Try this method.

Yeah, I'm going to give that a go...However, if the store also insists on the work landline, I'm still up the creek.

Bloody frustrating. I told the chick when I phoned them my entire phone pedigree...landline goes to fax, only cell numbers, boss only cell numbers etc. etc. And was told it's fine... Yeah...so much for that :/

Kinda wish I didn't transfer my Vodacom contract to prepaid to prepare for the number port, cause it looks like I could be contractless for quite a while now.

That's what I tried to do initially. Person on the other side still insisted I give her a landline number, even after telling her nobody picks up.

Phone, ask them to set up a redirect on your landline, to your cellphone. Next time they phone, it will come to your Cell, but they won't know.

Bit of a necro =]

I ended up going to the Cell C store in Brooklyn on Friday.

Was helped by a very nice lady called Mapula. She got things sorted in no time at all. Only hiccup was that direct had left my number in porting limbo, so she had to spend time on the phone sorting that out. Not that I minded too much, since she was a bit of a hotty ;P

Moral of the story; bugger Cell C direct, go to a proper Cell C store.
