So how long does it take?

But I don't understand? 3-4 bar's should be more than adequate. It's a digital signal, so it should be strong enough?

When I got nine we also struggled to get signal strength and the guy told me that it must be at least 6 bars and they would prefer to have QAM64 3/4 as preferable rate. Down rate must be -95dBm, but they normally only install from -85dBm downwards. This also must be true for you ability to upload to the hight site.

Having a 2 bar would have meant that he couldn't upload, since the upload signal comes from you to the tower and a lower TX rate.

Think I applied in August 2008 and they finally came to check if I have signal somewhere in Feb 2009 and finally installed Thursday last week (end of Feb), the guy who installed my unit said its the best signal he has seen (after 3 years of having a really, really cr@p ADSL service its good I have good WiMax).

It is however now Saturday and seems they forgot to actually activate my unit as I can still not establish a PPPoE connection. Might b cause the ppl who installed the unit sub contract to sub contractors who sub contact to other sub contractors......... who contract to Telkom so it takes 20 calls to tell the correct person to activate my unit and after reading an article on MyBroadband today which said something along the lines of Telkom wants 2 get rid of 3/4 of their staff as they want to rather use contractors, I'm not sure what to expect in the future.

btw I did order 2 WiMax units for two different locations but the second order seems to have vanished.

Its Wednesday now and still my WiMax is not working and seeing as I don't have the order numbers I can't get any help from Telkom :s They might as well just come take the thing off my wall again :(

Friday 6 March and my WiMax is still not working :s They told me to phone Telkom Broadband to log a fault but Telkom broadband can't do anything without a circuit number which was never supplied to me so will have to phone the WiMax techie again to try and get that.

Between loosing my orders, installing someone else's WiMax at my house and not being able to activate my unit this WiMax install has been a real nightmare. Am I the only one who always has issues with anything Telkom does.
