EDIT : And out of interest I was just on the phone to Fedhealth. They state they have a 12 month waiting period for pregnancy if the person was not on a medical aid before. I mentioned what was being said on here but they reiterated what I mentioned about people joining and then having the baby and leaving. They said they allowed pregnant people to join at one point but they stopped this in January last year..... may I ask when your personal experience was?

Just browsed the Oxygen site because I am with Nedbank, the PDF's annoyed me though. The Fedhealth seems to be on point, I found their calculators quite useful. I guess I will be cutting down on my gaming budget.

Go and get your jollies off somewhere else, some of us are having a serious discussion here. Many on here will realise you are making a tit of yourself with that comment.



I just chatted to Optivest too and they confirm that there was a special offer at one point but they too have stopped it. The lady did confirm that it may be worthwhile contacting Fedhealth direct and not a brokerage, like Optivest, as she has heard that on occasion they will allow a very healthy, young person to join is they are less than 6 weeks pregnant but this is reviewed on a case by case basis. As much as you do not care about their financial affairs, medical aids are desperate for young healthy members to help with their solvency. This may be an attempt by Fedhealth to get them to join and hopefully stay on.

This was in 2005 with my son and I told my friend about it in 2009 when she fell pregnant and she joined too and her baby was born June last year. Both times Fedhealth covered the pregnancy and birth.
