Not working for me though... What handset / firmware / carrier you using? Guess Market Access is still my only means for now... :p

I think your phone just cached some market enablered stuff or something... Still normal market on my MTN desire with stock 2.2.

Not working for me :( Hero, Froydvillain 1.5 on Vodacom.

I did see This a few days ago, about Google opening the market up to new territories.

The Android Market in two weeks will be able to reach out to 32 countries of which the new additions are:
Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Israel, Mexico, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, Sweden, and Taiwan.

I haven't enabled MarketEnabler either, but I needed to change the xml to show the paid apps tad (it seems to reset itself). Basically, my location is still Vodacom SA and the apps are displaying prices in Rands, which has never happened.

[EDIT] This is from an HTC Dream running Biffmod 2.0 (FroYo :P )

[EDIT 2] Yeah, you can't actually buy anything like that, the location checker still kicks in when you try to buy. Still, it's a good sign.

Just did a quick experiment:

  • Cleared Market's cache and data in application management
  • Ran Market Enabler and spoofed US
  • Ran Market
  • All apps, in $, as expected

  • Rebooted phone, negating Market Enabler
  • Ran Market
  • Navigated to Apps -> All Apps in Market
  • Shows prices in Rand

  • Cleared cache and app data again
  • Rebooted
  • Ran Market
  • Only free Apps

I can only assume that we're about to be included in the Market & the systems are in a bit of a transition. I've just repeated the process and can again confirm my results.

Just got this Tweet from AndroidDev "Buyer currency showing up in Android Market". I guess that's what we're seeing which is probably why there's a '~' before the value. It doesn't mean we'll be getting paid apps, but it does mean that at least someone is looking at the idea.

Awesome, so after 2000 and something posts I finally guessed something right?! :)

Nor me rooted 2.2 Desire with MTN. I get paid apps only after faking location using market enabler app... In $..
