So i made a switch to Android from IOS...

I only do it to family members that want daughter photos (Android to anything but apple).

So you stand around bluetoothing it to all your family members that want the pics instead of uploading them to the likes of dropbox or emailing them? What about those not in the immediate vicinity? Do they have to wait until they're next in range?

We all have iPhones/iPads at home, so we have the capability to do the same thing, but rarely have we used it.

My grandmothers and great aunts do not have a dropbox account or even a facebook page...

Watsapp for long distance (my one grandmother that has watsapp) and bluetooth for when they are around.

You know, 75year olds are not realy on the cloud...

FWIW you dont need accounts to view photos with either service.

Whatsapp is ok but the majority of the pics I send don't originate from my phone and there's still no PC version as far as I'm aware.

Some of those phones are not to new.
So it's mostly either bluetooth or mms/watsapp.

Stick a link in an sms and they get confused.

Also, it's more a case of they hand me the phones, I do the rest
For them it's some form of magic. Mention Bluetooth? they go check a mirror just in case.

I feel your pain. :D

This is awesome news guys!!
This counts hugely in Samsung favor.

My old Iphone had the power button issue, which is a known defect. What a farking hassle in getting that thing fixed.

Did you get the phone fixed? If you are in jhb then go to Samsung repair centre on 14th avenue. They have done two phones for me already with no invoice they just verify that's its an SA phone on their system and do the repair for you since ADH is for Africa only apparently.

Hi, yeah I booked it in on Saturday, they took the phone, removed the battery and cover, gave me a page to fill out and said it will take 3 weeks. They did not ask for an invoice or anything.
I don't know how they expect someone to give them an invoice, when you take out a phone on contract their is not invoice that i can remember, maybe im suffering from memory loss..:D
But still a pretty smooth procedure, Ifix asked R2699 for the screen replacement, other places I called wasn't much cheaper, i just think that's a crazy amount to pay for a screen replacement, when I sell this phone I'll probably get around R3000, so fixing a screen for R2700 just is not worth it, so big thanks to Samsung for this.

Played with a friends Note 3 this weekend, i have to say the Note3 is a far superior phone to the S4/S5.
Using a Nokia Lumia 800 as a backup phone, hopefully getting the Lumia 1320 later this week or early next week.

Having owned both the S4 and the Note 3, I definitely agree!

You should still get an invoice even if you get the phone on contract.

Haha my S4 mini was lower hardware and has never got frozen. You bought your S4 from those guys at the robots or the flea market, because they selling fakes that looks like real S4's. As for the keyboardand typing who uses the default Samsung Keyboard? Try getting a proper keyboard like Swype or Swiftkey. These keyboards are much better than the default one.

Edit, let me rather not say anything.

So a few weeks back i decided to swop my Iphone 5 for a S4, i did this as i have ± 18 months experience on the Iphone and wanted to thoroughly test Android/Samsung as i'm upgrading probably beginning December and my choices are Note4 or Iphone6.

Let me say both phones have their strong and weak points,
What i love about the Samsung/Android :
Brilliant screen, the colors are just amazing
Screen Size, what a pleasure it is working on a bigger screen
Customizable themes, installed the Buzz launcher
Loving all the downloadable apps and how customizable the entire phone is.
Copying photos and music is a breeze, at last i have a ringtone which is not a default Apple ringtone
Battery life, can’t tell you how Nice it is not having to charge my phone halfway through the day
The sound is much better

What i hate about the Samsung/Android
For a phone with such superior hardware, the phone lags
The touch screen is not as responsive as well as the Iphone, i keep making typing mistakes and same things i have to press several times before it registers
The Back button which is also touch is not very responsive
Apps hangs or freezes
Phone freezes (might just be a long lag)
Customizable themes, even though i love them, they make the phone slow.
The settings menu is all over the place
The more apps you load, the more the phone freezes
Whatsapp is absolutely horrible compared to IOS
Wifi drops
3G drops (even though it says its connected) and i have to restart the phone

Conclusion
Well, to be honest, i got the phone since certain members on this forum goes on in every thread on how superior Samsung/Android is, so they sort of convinced me. What i can tell you now is that you have to live in a dream world and bullshtting yourself if you tell everyone Samsung is superior to Apple, Android Superior to IOS, there are certain features which are nice, but since i had the Iphone, the phone has not frozen once, not a single app has stopped working once, there is absolutely NO lag, what is the use of having 2Gb ram with fcking 8 cores if your phone can’t even scroll through the menu pages without freezing? (and apparently this happens on all android phones, even the king of the hill G3)
My brother also has a S4, i asked him how he lives with this phone and he said he thinks it’s fantastic, (in the same breath he said i must remember he is not used to anything better coming from a BB)
The simplicity of the Iphone is just so much better, a phone which on paper should be completely inferior to the Samsung but still be superior on most aspects.

The day Iphone fixed its lame-ASS battery, there will be absolutely no reason to move over to Android.

So to anyone and everyone who lurks on the forums, forcing their “superior Android/Samsung” down everyone's throats, please guys, just stop. Its better on paper which does not seem to mean anything in real life.
Hopefully Android L addresses a lot of these issues. The touch sensitivity is something Samsung probably has to look into, can’t think Android is to blame for that.

Thank heavens i only have to work with this phone until end November/Beginning December.

I think it's pure ignorance. The people who scream about the better android specs and insist it's superior to iphone clearly must just have no experience using an iphone.

I use an android phone (LG G2) and I do like my phone. I prefer it to an S5 for example. But there's no freaking ways I can claim it's nearly as responsive as a newer iphone (not talking iphone 6 as obviously no experience with it). Something as simple as the typing experience even on a smaller iphone just WORKS. It's noticeable for me going from android to iphone but it's hard to quantify. It's just so SMOOTH. You can tell the software and hardware are in perfect sync. I can only imagine how much I would notice it if I mostly used an iphone and then went back to an android.

I am seriously considering getting the iphone 6. All that was holding me back was screen size.

All this talk about bloatware. It wouldn't happen if Samsung developed their own software like apple do. But Samsung next to the word developing is an oxymoron.

Some delicious irony in there.

They do, it's called Tizen. And unsurprisingly, no one is interested.

This is exactly what i was talking about. I should just have replaced the word "freeze" with "Lag", think some people misunderstood me.

Im still waiting for Samsung to fix my screen though.
Still working on the Lumia 800, I honestly miss my Iphone and even the Samsung at this stage.

My WP experience has not been very good, that said its WP7.8, I'm also still waiting for my Lumia 1320 (work phone upgrade)

Lumia 800 / WP7.8 experience :
The Good
Build quality is superb compared to the S4, a solid phone with a real nice feel to it.
Touch sensitivity is also far superior to S4, the screen also feels like its made of a higher quality material.
Smooth, absolutely no lag.
Battery is amazing, lasts the whole day.
Wifi is great, it picks up my hotspot far out of the Iphope and Samsung's reach
Integrated Mail app is pretty awesome.
The phone is pretty simple, but i also feel this is a weak point, the whole OS is simple, easy and straight forward, but you get the feeling like something major is missing.

The not so good,
The apps are horrible
Facebook is horrible
Internet explorer is the single most horrible experience of my life, and i cant install Chrome.
Copy and paste is horrible.
Whatsapp is a little better than the Android counterpart, the problem is someone will send you a message, and only after +-20min will i get the notification.
Mail notifications has no sound, or I'm unable to find it.
Resolution is not good on this phone.

I have never worked on WP8.1, so hopefully my opinion of the WP will change after getting the 1320.

PS. If anyone wants to see a IOS device slow and sluggish, Install IOS8 on a Ipad 2.

Phone them, your phone is probably ready by now if you gave it to Samsung 14th avenue repair centre,my cousin took his phone there on Tuesday and they told him 3 weeks also because they had no stock on s4 screens, yesterday he called them and his phone was done.

Now that's what you call under promising and over delivering!:p

I am not going to read everyones comments,

I am using LG G3 and iPhone 5.

G3 as updated as they come and stock ROM. iPhone on iOS8 and I agree with OP.

iPhone 5 doesnt lag, doesnt hang or anything funny - simply works. no apps open on G3 and fresh restart and I have 20GB left on it open and lags between menus, apps are slow and swiftkeys keyboard is slow to launch.

on other hand iPhone battery life is horrible.

G3 is used for work because I need better battery life than 7-8 hours.

moral of story - iphone 6. thats all. iphone 5 upgrade is due in Feb next year and will first play on 6 hands on before upgrade to it. but for now iphone 5 is nice and great experience and G3 is nice features but has its faults.

nothing is perfect however. and you cant live in one environment these days. - main reason why I have both and as well to split work and personal.
